hello out there. Disney. Fam, my name is Chris, and I’m Kelli,

Kelli 0:37
and today we are doing our very first top 10. So this is our 10th season. We want to do a top 10 list every week this season. And so we just got off the Disney treasure. So this is going to be our top 10 things from the Disney treasure. We were on the fourth fourth sailing, fourth sailing, and it’s still very much fresh in our minds. So top 10 list for the Disney treasure ready to go, Ready to go. You

Chris 1:44
Oh my gosh, that just took me right back there.

Kelli 1:47
It makes me smile. I’ve got that video on my phone, and I love it.

Chris 1:51
I saw there, oh, you don’t want to miss this. Don’t miss this. I thought it was maybe, oh, this will be cute, kind of hokey, and nowhere. It was so much fun. And that’s going to be one of our items, but it’s not number 10. I’ve got number 10 on our list, and we’re just calling this all the activities, not including what you just heard. We’re talking about, like the movie, watching so much movie, watching crazy game shows, three theaters, three different movie theaters, at least. Well, there’s two, like, legit movie theaters, Wonderland and the Neverland, uh huh. And then they also showed movies from time to time in surabi, which, oh, that’s right, yes. Sarabi, yes, oh my gosh, right. And then you’ve also got Funnel Vision, where they show all those movies, right? I mean, there is nothing forgot

Kelli 2:43
about Fauci how,

Chris 2:44
how

Kelli 2:46
there’s literally Disney movies, classics and news. I honestly,

Chris 2:50
I want to believe you could, you, you would have been able to watch every Disney slash Pixar movie

Kelli 2:57
ever. I bet you would have. No it was, it was amazing. All of the movies that were around the brand new releases were in theater. So we saw Moana two and Mufasa, those were there in the theaters. Then you’ve got the Funnel Vision playing movies really, all day, every day. Yeah, they played them in surabi. They also played them in another one that’s like a SIP show place, but they would play movies on it, right?

Chris 3:24
And also they had, like, the NFL playoffs were going on while we were there and so on. You could watch the NFL playoff game on Funnel Vision or in the periscope pub Lounge, which was like a sports bar. But, I mean, there’s nothing better than like, sitting in one of the pools on the pool deck, watching, like the football playoffs for a day.

Kelli 3:50
It was, I mean, the amount of stuff that they had available, like, I didn’t even get to see all the movies I wanted to see, because there’s so many activities, just

Chris 3:59
so many other things. You’ve got trivia in every lounge. This Triton lounge that I went and took part in, so much trivia, right

Kelli 4:08
there. Skill level one, Disney skill level three, Pixar. Skill one, Star Wars, skill two, like it is a constant with all the trivia, different things

Chris 4:17
you can play. They had trivia and Skipper society, they had, like, arts and crafts making sessions, learn how to draw donald. I did that. You did you learned you learned how to draw donald training. The one

Kelli 4:30
that I really wanted to learn was learn how to draw port Mini. Oh, yes, and I missed that one. I missed that one, but yeah, I mean that constant with the drawing activities they would have coloring things for kids. They had kids stuff that we didn’t even know about because that our kids weren’t that age, but they were. There were shows in the main like lobby area for the kids constantly,

Chris 4:54
not just the kids. They had coriander and say. Sage were the storytellers. And I watched every other people. Those are Ashley people. They go by coriander and sage, they ran some of the game shows. They were hilarious, but they also did like this, these like story times, where they would tell the stories of Disney movies, but do them in like 30 minutes. Yes, they were great. Yeah.

Kelli 5:20
So I mean, just so many things to do. And I would say that was port days and non port days, plenty of things to do. And also, like, if you were ever on a port day or a non port day or whatever, and it’s raining, like, Don’t worry, they’ve got

Chris 5:36
you plenty of stuff to do, right? That doesn’t even we, we didn’t even include all the stuff that’s there for the kids. That’s

Kelli 5:41
what I’m saying. Like the individual zones for the kids. There was like an obstacle course, like an inflatable obstacle course on the indoor gym area in the indoor gym area that they would schedule. Okay, here’s family time on the inflatable course. Here is just 10 through 12 year olds. I mean, like so many random things like that that you could do, so

Chris 6:05
amazing. Never, you never run out of things to do. And unless you’re me, I mean, there, there’s a world out there where people felt bad about all the activities they were missing while they sat in the pool watching Funnel Vision. I’m not one of them, so I

Kelli 6:19
sat in many different places, reading books, and I didn’t feel bad about the activities. In fact, I would regularly have to shift my location because an activity was coming in. There’s a lot going on, a lot going on.

Chris 6:34
So that was number 10. So many activities were never you’re never be bored.

Kelli 6:40
You want. And at the in the evenings they do go. A lot of them go adult only for some of the game shows and things like that. But again, but

Chris 6:47
how about the first night our our daughter didn’t come until two in the morning? Oh, yeah. Well, because they were they had kids act during teenager activities until two, yeah, like 2am

Kelli 6:58
Well, there was one night we came back in from dinner, and it was close to 10 or 11, and she’s like, I think I’m gonna go and watch Maleficent on the pool, right,

Chris 7:06
right? That is awesome. I think I’m gonna go. It’s 10 o’clock. I’m gonna go watch my Maleficent starts in 30 minutes on the Funnel Vision up by the pools.

Kelli 7:16
Yeah, it was, it was amazing. Okay, so number nine is the Aqua mouse slash pool deck. So I’ll start with just the deck in general. So a lot of a lot of cruise ships have a huge, massive pool in the middle of the pool deck. What I will say is that Disney has done this brilliantly because they don’t have a massive pool. They have multiple smaller pools on different levels, right? So varying depth, varying depths on different levels. And so imagine, like a pool staircase, almost like there’s a staircase going right up a middle the lower level pools are, say, one foot deep. And this isn’t the kitty area. There’s a whole separate kiddie pool and Kitty slide area. This is regular open area. So you’ve got one foot deep and then one more pool up. Those are three foot deep, one more up this, you know, two more pools, yes, four and a half feet deep. So there’s a lot of little pools, and so you do find yourself nobody’s swimming, yeah, right. But these pools are also not really conducive to like kids playing football over your head, exactly right? These, these pools are only conducive to sort of sitting and chilling and vibing while you watch Funnel Vision, right? And so in the middle of the main pool deck is just about 100 Adirondack chairs, lounge chairs and that. So you can literally just sit in the middle of the pool deck and watch movies all day, sit and watch them all night, like it is. It’s basically an outdoor movie theater right there. And then the opposite side of of that, so you’ve got multi level pools on one side, middle is a bunch of seating. On the other side, where Funnel Vision is, you’ve got a stage, and that’s where they do a lot of the shows. When they’re not doing shows that stage opens up and it’s another pool, yeah. So really cool the pool deck I was, I was really kind of blown away by how they had designed that. I expected one large pool, and then, like you said, go around to the backside of one of the funnels. That’s where they’ve got the slide area for the little kids. They’ve got this amazing splash pad covered, yes, covered splash pad area. And I don’t want to say it this way, but fenced in, yes, like it was, it was a glass wall. But still, like your kids are not your little ones, not running away. That’s right, that’s right. And they’re not mingling with any kids bigger than them, right, right? That’s not a thing. So this small kids area is very much gated off. You can feel safe letting your kids run around in that zone. There are also chairs for parents to sit in. There’s a bar. Over there, there’s also, like a slushy bar, yeah, I see, yeah,

Chris 10:03
that’s right, yes, yeah.

Kelli 10:06
And so then my favorite part of the pool deck, because I’m not really a layout and get sun kind of person, I basically just got sunburned saying those words. And so my favorite part of the pool deck was actually the Aqua mouse, sure. And so you and I went on the Aqua Mouse one day. Really, really stinking cool. So really cool. It’s cool. So it’s a clear tube that you’re in. A lot of it, a lot of it’s clear that you’re in, but it’s like a coaster, right? So you’re in your float, and it takes you sort of up a hill, you know, just like you would on a roller coaster, and then you sort of come crashing down and around, you know, worlds and stuff, but going through those clear tubes over the pool deck and over the ocean,

Chris 10:51
the ocean just about the coolest thing ever. Crazy, yeah, but then you wrote it a second time, so yeah, and then I the next day, or a couple days later, I actually wrote it twice and, like, literally back to back, because the pools are, like, 50 minutes on. You can be in the pool for 50 minutes and then to give the lifeguards a break, they have a 10 minute break. Everybody out, right? So get out of the pool at the 45 minute mark, and there’s nobody in line at the Aqua mouse, because it’s at the 50 minute mark everybody gets out of the pool, that’s when the line grows at the Aqua mouse. So hop out after 45 minutes, go to the Aqua mouse and you can ride it a couple times without anybody in line yet. That’s awesome. And so there’s six stories that the Aqua mouse tells. I know there were six. Yeah, there’s like six different stories that it tells. So you, as you’re going up the tube to start the roller coaster, like roller coasters do it you, you’re basically going through a Mickey and Minnie Mouse story, car ta story, yeah, and it all the stories end with this gushing flow of water, and you take off down the tube with all the water, yeah, just amazing. And it’s very similar to, like, the water coasters that you might ride a Typhoon Lagoon or whatever, just really, really well done.

Kelli 12:10
And the animation is, like, from Mickey minnie’s runaway railway. It

Chris 12:13
is like, it’s like, it’s like, retro, but, yeah, modern, yeah. So I

Kelli 12:17
love the Aqua mouse. Loved the pool deck. I definitely did some book reading up there, sure.

Chris 12:22
Okay, so we didn’t mention quiet COVID, but that’s also, keep walking past the pools. You get to the adults only area and on the very, very back of the ship, and it is super quiet. There’s a bar back there. Also had

Kelli 12:35
a lovely infinity pool. Infinity Pool looking over the back end of the ship, not a bad way to it’s gorgeous. Sometimes Loved it, loved it. Okay,

Chris 12:42
so now we’re gonna call this. This is number eight fireworks at sea. That’s the headline, slash Pirate Night, slash the satellite party, which you just heard. So they have these in that same pool deck area, like Kelli said they they can cover up some of those pools. They can cover up all the pools to create floor space for people to stand because in those moments, you’ve basically got everybody on the whole ship right there in one spot. So floor space is a premium there, yeah. But Pirate Night, man, it’s a thing. It’s just so Pirate Night, it usually coincides with the fireworks at sea, which makes total sense once you’ve seen the Pirate Night show that they do, right? And people get so into it. Oh, yeah. Now look, if you don’t bring a pirate costume, because Kelli wouldn’t let me bring all of our

Kelli 13:37
pirate costumes, they will leave. And for the record, I took my pirate ears. You did take your I was dressed.

Chris 13:45
They give you a bandana. They give you a pirate bed bandanas, which is great. I mean, everybody on the whole ship is wearing their bandanas, one way or the other. Oh,

Kelli 13:52
we drank the Kool Aid. I mean, everybody we did. Everybody participates in now, there’s some people that that, that brewed the Kool

Chris 14:01
Aid. They made the cooler. They got into it, and I loved every minute of it. And so you had this big Pirate Night party, yeah? There’s a sing dance thing with all the pirate captains. And of course, Jack Sparrow makes his appearance, and it culminates with the fireworks at sea. Yeah, and I’m telling you, it’s perfect. There’s nothing like being on a cruise ship and seeing this amazing Disney Style fireworks going off.

Kelli 14:29
Well, we went up there for the fireworks, and we were like, Let’s go up to 13, because that’ll be the best views. And we walked up there and there was a lady in one of those big loungers eating pizza. Yeah, and so she had been there for a while, you know, she had to get there early to get that seat. And I was like, she is living her best life. And I love this for

Chris 14:49
her, for her man. She was, she was basically zonked out, except awake.

Kelli 14:55
She’s like, I just eat pizza. And you’re the best relaxed

Chris 14:59
at. Was awesome. But the fireworks are fantastic. What I loved is the some of the crew had said, look out along the sea to see if you can see other ships on the water who take advantage of the fact that Disney ships are shooting fireworks, right? And so they will stop. They’ll stop so that their passengers can see our fireworks. Yeah, which is kind of cool, yeah. So yeah, the fireworks to see, and then the sail away party, or the front end. Loved it. Just so, so good. Just sets the exact right vibe. It does. We loved it. They set the tone perfectly. And

Kelli 15:35
so number seven is character meet and greets. Now, honestly, this is ridiculous. These things happen all day, every day, all day, every day, all day, every day. It’s so and so is here, so and so is there such and such is here. And so you can go into like the cruise navigator and say, I want to see Mickey, and it’ll show you every time you can see Mickey. So you can be like, I can’t get him on this day. This is our last chance to get Mickey or I want to have my photo taken in the Haunted Mansion lounge? Well, here’s the only time we’re doing things in the Haunted Mansion lounge. You want port Mini? Well, Port Mini is only going to be out on this day at this location. And what I mean by that isn’t just that the character meet and greets are plentiful. The lines are short. I mean, I wouldn’t say you wait more than 15 minutes to see these characters, and then when you get up there, they treat you like royalty. Yes, like they’re talking to you. They’re pointing out your outfits. I mean, we saw stitch one day walking down the hall, just walking down the hallway, and he stopped and took pictures with us in the hallway, like with

Chris 16:42
no line. This was not a designated this was just we happened to run across the

Kelli 16:46
stitch. We’re like, ah, stitch. And he turned around and started taking pictures with us. It was like we had our own private meet and greet. Yes, they weren’t trying to rush him off. None of that.

Chris 16:56
Tiana literally spends evenings just sort of strolling around the Grand Atrium area with no, like, cordoned off area, right? She just, she just strolls around, and every little, tiny, knee high kid runs up to her and she kneels down to their level. It’s the it’s the most adorable thing. But to your point, if there are people you just feel like you gotta see this is the easiest way to, I mean, I, I’m only 50, and I had, I had to see Mirabelle.

Kelli 17:26
I was worried. What was gonna happen if you didn’t get to see mirror? I was worried, was it? But you know what

Chris 17:31
you got it. Had to worry, because I got to see her. Bruno was there too. He was fine. He was also there. I got to see Mirabelle. And it made the whole,

Kelli 17:39
the whole, really did. And she didn’t care that there was a 50 man almost crying all by

Chris 17:43
himself, not with any family, not with a little kid with him, all by himself. I got in line all by myself.

Kelli 17:51
I mean, it really is. The characters are everywhere, and they do take real time with you. Yes, to talk to you. Was it you that like Daisy chased down? Yes.

Chris 18:01
So I was sitting in, like, just, you know, in one of the easy chairs on the level in the atrium area, yeah, right about the time that the a lot of the characters were about to come out and get their places. Yeah. Well, Daisy came out and she took her place where she was going to be, but there was no line yet. And so how about DAISY walks over to me, makes me stand she’s like, Can I get a picture with you? Like, the same thing that she hears all day, every day. She basically, her handler said she’d like to get a picture with you. Feel It’s okay. I mean, that’s how, yeah, that’s how easy it is to get character pictures. And

Kelli 18:40
the handlers are great, too. The handlers take pictures with their cell phones. And when I got my picture made with port Minnie, and I keep calling her port Minnie, I’m telling you, she’s adorable. So I loved her. Different than Captain Minnie. No, no, no, very different than Captain support Minnie. This is her outfit that she wears at the port. And so when I got my picture made with her. The handler said, Oh, Minnie, do that really cute thing where y’all both grab hands and then look at the camera.

Chris 19:08
I love that. How about I walk by where Captain Minnie was going to be? You know, receiving people, yeah, and the handler calls up, I’m using air quotes here, calls up to the ship’s bridge to let to let Captain Minnie know that her receiving line is ready. Oh,

Kelli 19:26
dear God, it’s

Chris 19:30
not come out of character at all. Please tell Captain Minnie that her receiving line is ready. Thank you.

Kelli 19:36
So fantastic. So fantastic.

Chris 19:39
Okay, where that was that you meet? Okay, so this one’s a kind of a no brainer, but it’s, it’s in the top 10, okay, yeah, cast member service, yeah, it’s Disney and it’s cruises generally have amazing service. Yeah. Okay, so you, if you’re gonna be Disney and you’re known for service, you had to go even further, yeah, and they

Kelli 20:09
nail it. Oh, it’s above and beyond. Our

Chris 20:13
our stateroom attendant was so good. And like, yes, you get the animals with made out of towels and stuff. But then there would be, like, he, he would arrange hang our stuff. He would hang stuff up. He would he would say, Oh, I think this clearly, he would think, I think this is something important then. So he would put it in a special place of prominence in our room, you know, just taking such special care of us. But

Kelli 20:42
like, also, you know, you can call from the room to get Mickey bar sent to you, yes, and they guess at who it is when you call. So like, if you call, they’ll say, is this Chris and so when our daughter called, they were like, is this Juliana? It’s just like, it is right. So like, even the kids can call, yeah. It was great. And so then at dinner one night, Pirate Night, they had the Johnny cakes, which are really like cornbread, right? The people at our table just kept going on and on about how much they loved them. And so our waiter brought out an entire basket,

Chris 21:17
right, right? Just listening paying attention Yes, our waiters. We had our so on Disney cruises, you know, you do rotational dining. And so there’s like three restaurants that you sort of rotate through, and your wait staff is your wait staff at all three, they rotate with you, yeah, regardless of what the theme is. So we had Marvel restaurant, we had the Plaza de cocoa, and then we had the 1923 restaurant, and they, they changed with the restaurant, right? Different outfits, different outfits, different menu and but, like, they were so over the top, incredible. Yes, are the sort of the second waiter, like we had our head waiter, head waiter, and then the assistant, the assistant waiter had apparently taught himself origami. Oh my god, and started and started about maybe our third meal. Started handing out special origami creations because we had two teenage girls. We had two teenage girls on our table, and started handing out, but you got one too, yeah, the last night, he gave them to all the women and just Yeah, little touches like that. And

Kelli 22:23
well, and one of the the mom with the other family, went on and on about how much better the ice cream bar is if it has sprinkles on it. Oh, and so the last night of the cruise, this was not on the menu. Y’all right, he went and got her an ice cream bar and added sprinkles

Chris 22:40
like in a ball, right? Just because that wasn’t on the menu, no, just and so we know that there’s, you know, 3000 people, or whoever, on this cruise ship, we dealt with three specific folks that were dedicated to us. You know that if our experience was that amazing? Yes, everybody’s was. But then when we would run in with that, deal with the guest services people are, or the DVC, people that were on board that everybody was just over the top. So wonderful, completely, just just so made it so much worth it. Number

Kelli 23:16
five, we are halfway through lounges. So if you love the Haunted Mansion, the Haunted Mansion Lounge is gonna be right on up there. We kept calling the other one, Skipper canteen. What was it called? Skipper society? We kept calling it Skipper canteen, just because it’s got that’s the vibe, same vibe. Skipper canteen, I think might have been my favorite, because of the vibe society, okay, yeah. For society, the chairs were the most comfortable. That’s where they did a lot of learn to draw things. They had this animation of the map of the cruise ship playing on the TVs. And just saying, that sounds ridiculous, but it was an animation that made the map look like a pop up book. I could have just sat there in that lounge watching that on loop, yes, and been thrilled the entire time. I loved the vibe in Skipper society, Scat, cat. We went in there one night live. Pianist, yep,

Chris 24:19
yep. And then they had the periscope pub, which was a sports bar type place that had great, great eats, great bites. But I’ll tell you, the rose and we never, we never, really. I spent one. I spent about 45 minutes in there. Okay, waiting like we had somewhere we were going to, right? You were gonna meet me there, but for whatever happened? Yeah, I think the honorable mention got in the way or something, okay, but, but I spent about 45 minutes in that Rose lounge. I was severely underdressed for compared to everybody else there. Nobody cares. It’s a cruise ship. That’s one of. Nicest, classiest bars, lounges it was ever hung out in. It was gorgeous. It was so mind boggling beautiful. And it goes, it’s basically where you go and sort of wait once you’ve got reservations at Palo or on Shantae, right, which are the two pay, extra pay, but like, you know, Triple Diamond, five star, whatever you want to call them, restaurants on board right you go to the rows for your, you know, your pre dining, cocktail or whatever. And it was just so nice. And everybody

Kelli 25:42
said we saw this online, like, Don’t sleep on the roads. It might be the best lounge there. And from a vibe perspective, yeah, it was the most relaxing. If you want to sit in a lounge and read a book, that’s the place to go. It was gorgeous. Yeah,

Chris 25:55
the entryway made it feel so like you’re, oh, you’re about to enter into something nice. Yes, you know, just Yes, and you did

Kelli 26:03
and you did something nice, yeah, no, the lounges were fantastic. They were open to kids throughout the day with different activities, and then at night, a lot of them became adult only. And I don’t sleep on those. Highly recommend, yep.

Chris 26:19
That’s right, you had lounges, yep, before. So here we go, uh, Castaway Key. So this is Disney’s one of Disney’s private islands. I think they’ve got lookout Cove or something. Is there’s another one now, yeah, but you know the other we’ve done Royal Caribbean cruises, and we’ve been to their, their private Coco key or whatever this is what you want the private island experience to be. I think 1,000% i Yes, you know, at least today, they don’t have a an amusement park that you can pay for and go into, but they just have a series of wonderful beaches. And you know, you got, you got two big, huge, sprawling beaches that is open to everybody, plenty of seating, plenty of seating like I can’t imagine a scenario where they would, you would have a hard time finding seats. And then on those beaches, out in the water they’ve got that’s where you can go. You’re, you know, in your scuba dive, or your your snorkeling adventures, you can go ride the banana boats or or parasail or whatever. But then they also have amusement like, what do you call like,

Kelli 27:36
yeah, like, like, JUNGLE, JUNGLE,

Chris 27:39
out on the water. Out on the water. Yeah, that’s a good way to say it. But then they’ve also got a private beach for adults only, serenity, K or whatever. And then scattered throughout all that is all the food you got the buffet stations, which is huge, huge, but delicious, easily accessible from, from wherever you are wherever you decide to pop, you know, pop a squat on the beach. It’s, it’s so close to the food. They’ve got a bar out there that just served, yeah, the coconut type drink the pina colada. Oh yeah. They serve it in the we bought the coconut and or indoor, the bamboo zipper. You know, that was so good. It just, it was so relaxing. It was just such a nice it’s not a far walk, but if you don’t want to walk, they’ve got a tram that takes you from, but

Kelli 28:31
it wasn’t a far wall. It wasn’t a very far walk at all. I would just say, like from a private island experience, comparing it to Royal Caribbean, it was 1000 times better,

Chris 28:40
but mainly because it was so chill. It was

Kelli 28:45
open, like you said, tons of, tons of beaches, tons of seating. The food was plentiful and everywhere, like you didn’t have to worry about, oh, it’s gonna be a long line at the buffet, right? Yes. Well, this is the first beach everybody’s gonna stop here, and all the seats will be gone. Like, none of that, none

Chris 29:01
of that. That’s right. And another note about the private island, castway key, the merchandise on that island might be better than on the

Kelli 29:11
boat. Oh my gosh, ship, ship. It was amazing. It was really good, really good stuff. I like the T shirts. Yeah, they are almost better than I did on

Chris 29:22
so good and it just the towel. Everything just was so well done on the private island.

Kelli 29:29
Top marks there for that. They did a really great job with that number three food, food.

Chris 29:36
Can you believe? I mean, obviously it was going to be in our top

Kelli 29:38
three, at least, of course, it was. So, of course, all the restaurants are fantastic, right? And you’ve got a different menu every night. It rotates. So when you’re eating at Plaza de coco, you’re eating, you know, Mexican style meals when you’re eating at world of Marvel, I felt like it was more like upscale meals, like that’s where we had filet and things like that. And then. Joy Disney felt like the Brown Derby, right? Yeah, that’s right, yeah. So, I mean, I think you and you’ve got your lobster and steak night, you know, just like regular, you know, I’m vegetarian, and our waitress would tell me, regularly. Miss Kelli, this is the one you want, right? This is the one you want, like, because they’ve also eaten all the dishes, and so they know what they taste like. And so there was a ratatouille one night, and also a risotto. This was in the Roy Disney and I was like, I really want the risotto. I love risotto. And she’s like, Miss Kelli, I will bring you a bowl of risotto, if you will. Order the ratatouille, yeah, because

Chris 30:39
it’s also a cruise ship, so you can, you can order, you could have ordered that anyway, you know, but she’s

Kelli 30:45
like, order the ratatouille, and I will still bring you the risotto. And it was amazing. I mean, it was the ratatouille was in a puff pastry. No, I can’t even, I can’t even, like, it was, it was too much. Every meal I had blew me away. Yeah, the vegetarian options were out of this world. There was one night where our daughter ordered, she got, like, oysters, Rockefeller, right, right. I mean, so great appetizers. I got a salad course. Almost every night

Chris 31:15
she got a, like, a poke and avocado bowl. Oh, she

Kelli 31:19
did yes as an appetizer.

Chris 31:21
Yes. Off The Charts, she’s a pretty adventurous eater, so that she is

Kelli 31:25
no she’ll eat just about anything. And she was there for all the seafood and everything, but when she saw oysters as an appetizer at Plaza de coco, all on it, all on it. And so that was great. I mean, amazing desserts, different themes, again, every night with the desserts, trace, leches, cake, positive cocoa.

Chris 31:45
That was over the top. You know, I like,

Kelli 31:49
we didn’t miss dinner a single night. There was not a single night where we thought, let’s just skip dinner and not go. No, no. We were like, I’m going,

Chris 31:56
you know? And we also, I know that the meals are even a step up at Palo or on some Yes, I want to do that the next time. We absolutely, but I don’t feel like I missed out on anything by by eating. Just saying, you can

Kelli 32:10
also, by the way, do brunch at Palo. We recommended that. They recommended that, yes, but yeah, that like I didn’t. We didn’t miss a single meal, right? So, so good. And that was just in the main sit down restaurants, right? Like the food around the pool. Oh, also,

Chris 32:30
by and large, most people will tell you that Donald’s cantina, where it’s like a it’s like a Chipotle style, like burrito, that might be the best thing on the whole ship. Donald had a line the entire time. How about Mickey’s smokehouse, where you can get guys everything from ribs, pulled pork, brisket or sauce, jalapeno mac and cheese. Jalapeno mac and cheese with corn bread and baked beans, I mean. And it had a line too. And it always had a lot and they were carving that, like off of roast beast, I know, carving the right. And then you’ve got the grill with the with the with the burgers and dogs, bratwurst and chicken fingers. And what was funny was that that one, if it had a line, they they would like, they open up this little side window that was said, if you’re here for just chicken fingers and fries. Come over here. I’ll give you just that, because

Kelli 33:24
they were making the burgers to making the burgers to order. I got, you know, vegetarian burgers through there. You know, I want a cheeseburger. Can I get extra fries? Can I get a little bit more fries, right? Can I also get some slaw? Of course, they had slaw and potato salad and all of that there with it, too. And this

Chris 33:40
is all right out by the pool. They also, they also had a pizza stand where you get pizza by the slices,

Kelli 33:44
stand by the slice. They also had soft serve ice cream and not, this is what I liked. Okay, I’m gonna say this. This is what I liked about all the buffet stuff. Okay, this goes for the main buffet area, also all of the areas around the pool and the soft serve. I don’t like buffets like y’all know that about me, right? I don’t like people touching the same silverware I’m touching to grab my food. I do not like it just germs galore. So what they’ve done is basically made everything touch free, right? So there are cast members behind all the buffets and everything’s behind glass, and they hand it to you. Same thing at poolside, same thing with the same with thing with breakfast and same thing with the soft serve. You’re not making your own soft serve. Cast members are getting that for you. So it is a much more sanitary way to do a buffet. And I never once felt like, you know, somebody had just sneezed on the mac and cheese. You know what? I mean? Like, I all it felt, everything felt so clean and sanitary intentionally, sure, and

Chris 34:57
I mean, and we haven’t, we didn’t talk about breakfast. So. Only at all. But I mean over the top, that muesli. I know you’ve been talking about the muesli. You changed your whole morning routine here for you started eating overnight oats just because of the

Kelli 35:11
muesli. I love that muesli so much. And so once I found it, like every day, I would go right up to that counter and I’d be like, I want two mueslis. I only need one spoon every single morning like that was

Chris 35:23
the next, last morning. You’re like, I’m gonna do something other than you, see, and I found you out there when you play

Kelli 35:31
gas like yourself. I love those that muesli. I liked

Chris 35:34
everything. I got there too. Every morning, every morning

Kelli 35:37
Made to Order omelets. They had Benedicts. They had the kids counter. I mean, had a line of adults at it every morning, because

Chris 35:45
that’s where the churro waffles, Mickey waffles for the Mickey officer, the thing. And then one morning, our table mate, she said, she says, you know, tomorrow morning, I think they’re gonna

Kelli 35:56
have the church last morning, and it was alive. And I’m telling you like too, so with the with the waffles and the pancakes. So I would get the Mickey waffles, I’d get the chocolate chip pancakes, the blueberry pancakes, the plain pancakes, the muesli, like it was just oh, it was heaven. And so they’ve got whipped cream, syrup and a strawberry compost that you can get with the waffles and the pancakes. And I’m telling you, it was a dream. I mean, there were rarely children at that counter. There’s almost always,

Chris 36:28
if there is something that measures excitement and sentiment of this podcast, it just spiked for item number three. People are gonna wonder why this is item number

Kelli 36:37
three, the food’s amazing. It’s amazing. It’s everything. Everybody says it is, it is everything you would expect from Disney, plus 1,000% the food was so good. Okay,

Chris 36:49
number two. Number two, the Broadway style show, oh my goodness. So they wait for the last two nights to do these. There are shows and events throughout your time on board serabi. By the way, we don’t have that on our list. That should be another honorable mention. They’ve got shows in surabi all the time, and that is a wonderful

Kelli 37:12
spot. Really cool, really cool area there.

Chris 37:16
But on this particular show cruise, they had Beauty and the Beast Broadway style show, and the last night they had Moana. And Moana was developed for the Disney treasure, the only place right now you can see that show. And people, I was super skeptical of these because one the beauty and the be show was like an hour. Well, the the movies an hour and a half or, you know, so how are they gonna do this and and same thing for my one mom was actually a little bit shorter than the Beauty and the Beast shows, yeah, and I, it is hard to describe the creativity that goes along with how they were able to tell these stories, the talent they have on stage, oh my gosh, the same people that did Beauty and the Beast on one night were doing Moana the next night, right? The lady that played Mrs. Potts, Mrs. Potts, grandma, Tala,

Kelli 38:19
like yes, but we saw Moana go from two years old right in front. I know,

Chris 38:30
I know how they did two years old to seven years old, right? Was a puppet the most. I mean, it was a puppet that looked exactly like that Little Baby

Kelli 38:40
Moana, oh, my goodness, so good, so good. So

Chris 38:43
I know, but they turned seven year old Moana into a teenager Moana right the front of our face. And I have no clue how that happened, and I don’t know how they did to feed it, either. And so then to feed it and take a right is all a flame. Is a big, huge flaming,

Kelli 39:02
yeah, yeah. Because she’s moving, she’s moving,

Chris 39:05
moving all around the stage. Throws fireballs. She’s huge and and then they turn her into TAFE. The grass

Kelli 39:13
grew right before our very eyes.

Chris 39:15
I just people the stage stay remarkable, so creative. This is the same stage of the night before they were playing Beauty and the Beast. And you legitimately got the sense that bell was running through a field, yeah, you know, singing, you know, yeah. Like

Kelli 39:35
the back of the stage is all screens. So the sides in the back of the stage, or screens. So, like, TV screens, like big, huge screens, like, so they’re running

Chris 39:47
change that she’s running to a forest.

Kelli 39:50
But also, like, it’s not like with a Broadway show where they’re pushing things in and out. I mean, they are moving some big set pieces, but the the majority of the set changes. Very easily with animations and graphics and

Chris 40:03
lasers and light shows they had and

Kelli 40:05
bubbles. But

Chris 40:08
like they have, they had, you know, grandma tala as a you knew when she was about here, because her, her, her Manta Ray would swim around the walls of the theater, and you knew, Oh, then she shows up on stage. Yes, it just it

Kelli 40:25
snowed in Beauty and the Beast. There were bubbles with the champagne when it popped, like, I mean, just, it was an immersive show like only Disney does, right? I

Chris 40:38
mean, it legitimately Broadway quality casting and and just blows, there’s a band on on their played, sort of what the videotronics or something like that. I can’t remember what they called the band, but they they played in the atrium every night. Well, they were also in these productions, right? The musicians so good. They were all just so good.

Kelli 41:00
And I was looking for, like, the the people who sang in Coco, because that was like a full on mariachi show every night. Yeah, to see if, to see if they were also in the Broadway play

Chris 41:10
exactly, exactly. It was just

Kelli 41:13
the talent, the talent so

Chris 41:15
good, and not just the on stage time, but whoever creatively designs the sets and the special effects and everything. Just top marks.

Kelli 41:24
Brilliant, very well done. Do not miss the Broadway shows. Yeah, okay, number one. Number one, absolute number one. Speak to this one. Y’all the spa. Let

Chris 41:35
me tell you we’re doing the top 10. And I’m like, I wonder what, which, how we should number these top 10s. And Kelli says the spa is number one, but okay, I’m thinking to myself, well, I didn’t do the spa, but Okay, number one. Spot number one. Okay.

Kelli 41:52
So two things. First of all, if you’re getting a service at the spa, that’s awesome. Go enjoy your service. That’s fantastic. But you can also buy a day pass to what they call the rainforest room. So basically, you can enjoy the spa without actually getting a service. And I think a day pass was about 70 something dollars. So there was one day I was there and I got a service, and then another day I went to the rainforest room. So when you go in and get the service. I mean, everything’s amazing, the lounge area, the locker room area, all of that. Again, I’m a germaphobe, and so I’m not always a big fan of, you know, stall showers and stall restrooms. So here’s what I’ll say. Y’all know that I have very high standards for restrooms. All of the restrooms in the whole entire ship have floor to ceiling doors. You’re there each they have their own rooms, right? Okay, so that’s the way it ought to be. Period, hard stop. All bathrooms should be made that way. All right, so let’s just get past that. In the spa area. The showers also have floor to ceiling doors, so when you go in, you close and lock that door behind you. You’ve got your own bench where you can set down your towel and your clothes and whatever, and you know, so it stays dry. And then this massive walk in shower area that is so huge and so lovely and filled with all of these spa like shampoo and conditioner and lotions and all of that. Like, I just didn’t want to leave the shower. It was, it was that lovely. It was so so very lovely. So naturally, the service was fantastic, right? An amazing, amazing massage. So what I will say is a lot of times when you go on cruise ships, you get a massage, and then they they get you basically in this post massage state where you can’t make a decent decision, and they sell you $250 worth of products. That doesn’t happen on a Disney cruise. So my spa person said at the end of it, she was like, Do you want to know more about any of the products I use on you today? Would you like to take any of them home? And I said, No, I think I’m good. And she said, Okay, excellent. Then let’s walk right up front. Right that was it. That’s that was the end of it, which was fantastic. Now the rainforest room. Let’s go there. So you walk into the rainforest area, this is a special pass, so if you’re getting a massage, you don’t automatically get access to the rainforest room. Those are two different things. So you go into the rainforest area, and there are these heated lounge beds that are just lovely. I read a book, took a nap all the above. Then there’s this area that’s like a swing, and at the at the base of the swing, like where your feet would be, there’s about two inches of water, so that as you’re swinging, you’re just like kicking water. Silently in that same room, they have these big, open shower areas with like, different speeds and temperatures of water. So you’re supposed to go through these rooms and these shower areas like in a specific course, right? So they had one room that was cold, one room that’s hot, one shower with hard pressure, one shower with soft pressure. And so, like all the water temperatures are different, all the room temperatures are different. And so you can literally just move through this room as slow as you would like to at whatever speed you desire, and you’re gonna love every ounce of it. Then you realize there’s an outdoor area, and you just die because you walk outside and you see these huge, big beds, these circular beds that are swings, and they’re all shaded, and so you see these huge beds, people just lounging on them. One lady had her laptop, which I thought was a bad decision, but maybe she’s writing a book or whatever. I don’t know, no judgment, but don’t work there. Okay, you better nap. You better read whatever I read, I napped, I did both, and I killed it. I absolutely killed it. There’s also two hot tubs back there. So again, I am I don’t do well in the sun, the fact that there was all shaded and cool, it was the best decision I made on the ship to buy the pass for the rainforest room. It was truly, truly lovely. And I can’t say enough about that spa area. I will say the only spa that I’ve ever been to in my life that beats it is the spot of Lonnie. That is the only one. It’s the only and it’s purely a space situation. Just because you’ve got more space at Aulani, they could do more things. But this was beyond my wildest imagination and completely mind blowing. And you had a shave at the hookery Barbie. I messed that name up. He

Chris 47:22
did, but Barbary, not the hookery Barbie. That’s a whole different thing. That’s a different thing, the hook Barbary, yes, yes, I did. I had a I had a whole facial and a shave and everything. And I

Kelli 47:38
went in there. I was gonna watch and take pictures. And once he got you laid back in that chair, it felt it felt wrong for me to be there. Felt

Chris 47:47
like you were intruding. It felt

Kelli 47:50
very wrong. And so I left very quiet.

Chris 47:52
They also served me the greatest old fashion I’ve ever had in my life, there at the hook bar, the hook bar, at the hookery,

Kelli 47:58
Barbie, hooker Barbie. They also did pedicures. There. They had pedicure chairs.

Chris 48:03
You know, you got your appointments there through the same spa number you would go get it was

Kelli 48:10
lovely. Was absolutely lovely. And you went on and on about that facial. So much that the people we had dinner with yes bought the husband a shave Yes, for his birthday, while we were on the show,

Chris 48:25
I’ve only shaved one time since we got back from the cruise. Oh my goodness.

Kelli 48:30
Okay, so that’s our top 10. Yep, number one by far at the spa. I’ve got an honorable mention. So on deck eight is the most lovely laundry facility you’ve ever seen. And I know that sounds stupid, but it’s fantastic. There must have been 50 washer dryers in there. Also tons of ironing boards where you could fold down and iron things. It was the most enjoyable laundry I’ve ever

Chris 49:00
had, including our own house, our own house.

Kelli 49:03
It was the most enjoyable laundry experience I’ve ever had. And so here’s what happens. Is you have to use your key card to activate a washer. This isn’t free. You’re paying to use them, but I mean, it’s washer dryer. It’s

Chris 49:16
a lot cheaper than using the the laundry services. So I bought the tide

Kelli 49:20
and the tide and the snuggle there from the vending machine, and then I used the key card to activate the washer in the dryer. And so what happens is it immediately links it to your account. So you’re out and about on the ship. Your clothes are in the washer, the dryer, whatever, and you get a push notification, Hey, your clothes and washer number 25 are done. And that was just so, really, very helpful. Yeah, I loved that. And I’m accustomed to here at our dryer needing to run multiple cycles. Yeah, sure, this thing would dry a full load in, like, 35 minutes. And I’d go in there and I’d be like, there’s I’m gonna have to pay again. And to run this again, nope, they were perfectly dry and smelled, you know, minty fresh. I’m like, I can’t say enough about that fairy tale laundry area. What’s a fairy tale laundry? It’ll

Chris 50:14
change the way we do packing next time.

Kelli 50:17
Oh, it will absolutely change what we do packing. But I’m telling you right now, like, I seriously considered, like, you should open up this kind of laundromat in town, like, that would be a fantastic, a beautiful experience, right? Like, I would, I think I would rather do my laundry at something like that here in town than in our own house. Like, How ridiculous is that?

Chris 50:39
It’s not, I mean, we have to get under that, you know, basement, to do our laundry.

Kelli 50:43
So it was a lovely laundry experience.

Chris 50:50
You know what? You should do my laundry all the time. No,

Kelli 50:52
I don’t do that. Sorry, honey. You did not marry June Cleaver. I hate that for you,

Chris 51:00
but it’s just a really nice laundry experience on the ship. It

Kelli 51:03
really was so honorable mention to the fairy tale laundry don’t over pack. You could absolutely do multiple loads we did, and when I spilled my chai latte all over myself at the Jade cricket cafe, I just went ahead and did another load.

Chris 51:19
All right, folks,

Kelli 51:21
that’s it for our first top 10 list. And we hope you loved it. We

Chris 51:28
hope you loved it. If you did love it, you know what to do. Run out to where you get your podcasts, and somewhere on there you’re going to be allowed to give us a five star rating.
