This is something that had never been done before. It was difficult to even explain to the public, and I think it was incredibly brave for us to move into this space. … And this, to me, says Imagineering is still at its best today.

Those learnings are being employed on the next experiences, which we haven’t even announced yet.

  • Disneyland is taking Star Wars Month (May) and stretching it out to an entire season – or 2 months.
    • Began on April 5 and will run through June 2
  • DL will see new merch, attraction overlays, additional ticketed events celebrating SW, a new fire works show, and of course, new food.
  • They actually did this back in 2015, but decided that it should return now.
  • Scavenger Hunt:
    • Pick up a playing card in Star Traders in Tomorrowland, then look for clues or even puzzles to solve in both tomorrowland or Galaxies Edge.
    • Solve/Find all of the clues and you’ll get a prize back at Star Traders.
  • Hyper-Space Mountain
    • This is the transition of Space Mountain into a Star Wars adventure. You are piloting an X-Wing fighter in a daring space dogfight complete with Star Destroyers and tie fighters
    • Space Mountain with Star Wars sound track alone would worth the price of Genie+
    • I would really love to see MK Space Mountain go through a massive refurb to incorporate the enhanced sound and graphics systems to allow for overlays like this.
  • Star Tours – the Adventure Continues
    • Look… this is possibly the most under-rated attraction in the Disney Parks that have it. A simple simulation ride at heart, but boy does it pack a punch.
    • Then when they introduced, what now seems obvious, the ability to incorproate multiple stories and adventures, so that you never know wheat to expect – stroke of genius even if it was obvious. And even if you have the idea, you have to create the filmed experience and execute it well.
    • And starting April 5th, we get new locations and characters: Asohka, Din Djarin and Grogu, Cassian Andor, and you can visit the planet Peridea where you may encounter the Purgil – the great space whales that can travel through hyperspace.
  • New Characters in Batu
    • BD-X droids can be found near the garage… and they are the cutest things ever.
      • I know the BD droids from the video game Fallen Order. BD-1.
      • These 3 fellows were jokingly to be named huey, Duey, and Louie… but he designers haven’t committed to those names yet.
    • Sabine Wren will be in Batuu during the season. This will be the character from the Asohka series (as opposed to the younger version from the Rebels animated series.
  • A new Fireworks show
    • Fire of the Rising Moon

During this special gathering, villagers and visitors will come together to celebrate their freedom and to honor the heroes and legends of the galaxy who came before them. As the skies over Batuu light up in bursts of color, imaginations are ignited with the iconic music associated with tales from across the galaxy.

Welcome aboard Disney fam. Hello indeed out there Disney fam. Welcome to this week’s show. My name is Chris and Kelly. Oh, and Kelly’s wearing one of my favorite sets of ears. What I think you originally thought was a Mary Poppins set of ears. I

Kelli 0:46
thought they were Mary Poppins ear, which

Chris 0:47
is a cat tiny hat. Totally get little flower. totally get it. But they are in fact Minnie Mouse here.

Kelli 0:54
There are Minnie Mouse ears with a little flower coming off of the top. Where’s Yep. And so it’s very on topic for me today. I don’t wear these years a lot because they are just sequins to within an inch of their lives. Right. And they itch and they slide off of if you’re wearing glasses, they slide right off at the arms of the glasses. But they are totes adorbs

Chris 1:19

Kelli 1:23
Thank God for you. As always. Hey, did anybody listen to us? This

Chris 1:27
literally just pause to give you an opportunity to ask that question.

Kelli 1:32
Well, where were they at with

Chris 1:34
your list? Because yes,

Kelli 1:36
of course no.

Chris 1:36
Some on San Bernardino, California. Yes. Lovely, beautiful SoCal town east of LA. Okay. Big Bear Lake. All right. Beautiful. Yeah. Reno, Nevada. Oh, the biggest little town in the world. Not far from Tahoe and urban arena. Okay. Maybe go gamble in Reno. Yeah. Independence, Missouri. Now

Kelli 2:01
Independence, Missouri. Love it. No, no, no, that’s liberty. That’s liberty. Liberty,

Chris 2:05
only different Missouri town. Totally different Missouri town. But both around the idea of freedom. Yeah.

Kelli 2:16
I love little liberty. Missouri. Liberty was

Chris 2:18
an adorable little town. But listen to Independence, Missouri. He’s got a lot going on. Okay. It’s known as the Queen City of the trails, because it was the point of departure for the California, Oregon and Santa Fe trails. Back in the day, of course. It’s also the hometown of US President Harry S. Truman. It’s where the Truman Presidential Library is located. So Independence, Missouri has got a lot going on. Liberty, beautiful to

Kelli 2:45
liberty is beautiful. And I think they had what was it the Jesse James Museum, that guy that wrote all the things? They did totally, totally similar. Same, same thing. But

Chris 2:55
thank you for downloading Independence, Missouri folks. And Dubai. Dubai. Yes, yes, that’s

Kelli 3:02
fun.

Chris 3:03
It is fun. Yeah. Dubai city in is an emirate in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping ultra modern architecture, and a lively nightlife. Wow, of course, the Burj Khalifa tallest building in the world. And the Burj Al Arab, which is that hotel that looks like a sailboat. It’s out there on that manmade ILO Yes, along with a million other things. Dubai is like a fake place almost.

Kelli 3:30
Wow, that’s cool. But you know what else

Chris 3:32
they’re doing if ADP listen, I listen that they are why would why would

Kelli 3:41
give us the news on alright.

Chris 3:44
So, I am so excited about this. Do you remember when we ate in 1900 Park fare? Yes. Who do we meet there that day?

Kelli 3:53
Manny? Candy Manny.

Chris 3:57
Yeah, all the buffet places mixed up. We were that was the Hollywood and Vine. We’ve met Handy Manny there.

Kelli 4:05
Where is 1900 Park?

Chris 4:08
Grand Floridian

Kelli 4:11
Oh, we met the Mad Hatter. We’ve met the Mad Hatter. Yes. And I think probably snow

Chris 4:19
No, I think we met marginalise

Kelli 4:21
snow didn’t get it didn’t get a break she does she’s over

Chris 4:25
at her shoes. She gets a breakfast and accuracies. No we met the Mad Hatter. We met Mary Poppins. I think poo and Alice in Wonderland. Alice. Alice Alice Alice. She was in Wonderland anymore. We

Kelli 4:38
met we met Alice outside of Wonderland. Yeah, right. Okay. Yep. So

Chris 4:41
we’ve got new new people to meet at 1900 Park fare. Okay, who who’s, who’s jumping in? We’ve got Cindy. Cindy is going to be Cindy

Kelli 4:50
welcome Sandy, leaving her castle to pop down tonight.

Chris 4:56
Aladdin, but Aladdin in his princely outfit. Okay,

Kelli 5:01
so Aladdin as Prince husband to the new Salton veteran. Does that make him a prince or does that make him like first gentleman?

Chris 5:10
He’s dressed nice. He’s not dressed like a street urchin. So we’ll go with that. Okay. We also have Tiana in her eclectic crowd. It’s coming from all different areas here, Tiana, but it’s Tiana in her adventure dress like she’s gonna be wearing in the bayou adventure.

Kelli 5:29
I thought she was wearing pants in the bayou. She

Chris 5:31
says her adventure adventure. I didn’t mean adventure dress as in it’s a dress. I meant adventure gear,

Kelli 5:36
her outfits Yeah. Okay, good. All right. loving

Chris 5:41
that. Love it. It’s got a cute little hat is just the Dorbz nice. And then my favorite almost brings me to tears. It’s even mentioned it Mirabelle? I have. Yes, that isn’t a eclectic Gris, but I’ll go here just to meet Maribel. I have Jasmine

Kelli 5:55
feels about Aladdin hanging out with all those other women at breakfast.

Chris 5:59
He knows where his bread is buttered. He’s He’s good. He’s trustworthy. I mean, now that he’s no longer stealing stuff. He’s

Kelli 6:10
you know, very trustworthy thief. Yeah.

Chris 6:14
Now now now now he’s very trustworthy thief. So fascinating. I have also decided in reading this I have a real affinity for Maribel. I want to meet her every chance I get. Okay. Why do you think that is? I don’t know why that is exactly. But you know, we were talking about the whole Enneagram deal. I did that this week and learned a little bit about myself and yeah, I want I want to know what Maribel says

Kelli 6:41
Do you feel that you identify with

Chris 6:42
I do feel like identifying Maribel I felt like I identify with Mirabelle before I took that test test but now maybe I feel like I know why you

Kelli 6:53
really identify with Mirabelle.

Chris 6:55
I just reading about her made me get a little verklempt I love her. Okay, I love Mirabelle.

Kelli 7:02
Okay,

Chris 7:03
can we can we can we go there next time and I can meet her there so yeah, that’s the new lineup at 1900 Park fare. I’m I’m excited about it. They also have something there. That seems like everybody knows about this supposed to be delicious called Strawberry soup.

Kelli 7:23
Strawberry soup.

Chris 7:25
Yeah.

Kelli 7:26
Is it cold?

Chris 7:27
I think it’s cold.

Kelli 7:29
I think it’s cold. So it’s like a like a jam jams, jellies. Jams.

Chris 7:33
See, bring it back? I don’t know. I don’t know. But people at like, it’s just the thing is they serve it for like any meal. You can get the Sharpe ratio bit in the middle there. Because it’s just

Kelli 7:44
I don’t know, Google that that’s worth making.

Chris 7:47
I think so too.

Kelli 7:48
I’ll make some strawberries. So that sounds delightful. It does

Chris 7:51
sound delightful. Strawberry soup.

Kelli 7:53
I don’t know why we don’t

Chris 7:54
want I don’t know how we I’m just not coming across this. Hey, if you’ve heard of the strawberry soup or even had it, tell us about it. We’re Healy. Galactic starcruiser news here. Okay. Not really. But it came up in conversation recently, Josh tomorrow was having an interview or something with CNBC. And here was a comment he made about it. This is something that had never been done before. It was difficult to even explain to the public and I think it was incredibly brave for us to move into this space. And this to me says Imagineering is still at its best today. those learnings, he says are being employed on the next experiences, which we haven’t even announced yet. So I noticed that there are no wrecking balls knocking the building down. Right. Right. I

Kelli 8:47
didn’t expect Yeah, right. I know there’s

Chris 8:49
a entryway I think maybe I’m wrong from galactic starcruiser in Tibet to is that maybe I’m wrong about that. But I I agree that it was hard for them to help us all understand what galactic starcruiser was and what it was going, what it was supposed to be. I agree. And then once we did actually start to have an understanding as people started to enjoy it, it became apparent how big a leap forward Imagineering took with this thing. ruli I totally agree with with demaras comments here that this was a brave undertaking. It just cost too much money. Yeah. But there is bound to be something they can do with this thing. Right? Even if you just open it up for a dinner show with Gaia, or you open it up for lightsaber training, or you open it up for you know a secret excursion into the you know Uh, the first order’s spaceship or something on a, you know, hour and a half long mission that you go on in there just an experience like that there’s bound to be something that we can use this for that gets to have us all sharing what Imagineering created here because it’s pretty incredible. This. I mean, we talked, we talked in a previous episode cost prohibitive for a lot of people. Yeah. For two, two and a half days. Yeah. $6,000. For a family of four. It’s a lot a lot of money. I could go on an actual Disney Cruise for a little less than that

Kelli 10:38
maybe. Right. And that’s also significant. That’s also significantly more expensive. More than two and a half days.

Chris 10:44
That’s what I’m getting at. Right. So it’s you’re talking about a week off cruise versus two and

Kelli 10:48
a half days, but it was completely immersive. Yes. And really, really cool. Yeah,

Chris 10:52
yeah. I just just want them to, I love the idea that they’re taking the learnings from that and planning something else that is in that style. But that maybe is more doable for people. I

Kelli 11:09
think they could very easily turn that into a high end Hotel. Yeah, so you could walk into the park, which is something that they don’t have at Disney World, right. And I think that would go over swimmingly like that could very easily turn into a high end resort, you know, at a pool at a pool, add some, you know, I think they have they have food in there, but at other restaurants, whatever. That could very easily be a high end, Star Wars themed resort. With an entrance to the park. Yep.

Chris 11:42
Yep. Okay, last thing here, Test Track is being reimagined. I guess all that. Yeah. I mean, I say get I mean, the test track has been around for a while now it

Kelli 11:54
has, but you have to reimagine that on a regular basis, because it gets out of date. So if

Chris 11:58
you’re talking about automotive transportation,

Kelli 12:03
I mean, we’re moving towards

Chris 12:04
electric vehicles, we are really leaving test track behind. So here’s what Disney has to say about the test track Imagineering. Our Disney Imagineers are gearing up soon. I see what they did. They’re gearing up to bring the next iteration of test track to life and are reaching back into our history for inspiration, including the original World of Motion attraction. From the early days of Epcot. Today, we’re sharing our first look at the brand new rendering of the attraction and so there’s a online you can see the what the promenade outside of test track will like in the capture. It’ll still like have a single rider line and all this kind of fun stuff. But I just wonder what they will do to juice it up a little bit. It’s

Kelli 12:51
currently sponsored by Chevrolet, right? Yes, that’s right. It’s still gonna be sponsored by chef says yeah, says it is. Yeah, so that’s interesting. So I guess it’ll be like whatever Chevrolet sees as the future of vehicles, so they have

Chris 13:03
a big piece of that. I mean, I remember I remember the original World of Motion I remember like it was very you know, Omni mover Spaceship Earth type attraction journey into imagination type variety vehicle and I remember the very first thing we saw was like footprints lighting up on the wall like in the dark that you were because that was our first mode of transportation right was Watkins cool. Okay, yeah, it very much went from a transportation focused focus dried they ended up with like and now we drive around in cars and go into our display room where we’ve got all these cool features that looking cars right right to now it’s really just test traffic it’s here’s how we build manufacture and test cars right? One of my favorites and build your own can you build your own car right? And so I remember one of my one of my grandma’s favorite things to do was after the World of Motion attraction to get into the cars that were on display once she got off the ride so you would literally she’d go get into all these cars that she would love to have bought and and just get a get a picture of me in this Camaro cribs kind of thing. So I’d love to see some of those old transportation ideas. Come back in there but we’ll see what happens. All right, you ready for tomorrow? I’m

Kelli 14:28
ready honey Tomorrowland.

Chris 14:32
So on April the fifth Disneyland in Anaheim launched Season of the Force.

Kelli 14:42
Okay, what are we talking about? It’s gotta be Star

Chris 14:45
gotta be Star Wars. Look at you. You were such as Star Wars. You are. You are a star wars that immediately and that you do. So good. I want to thank Disney Parks blog and undercover tourist for a lot of the information here. All right. So Disneyland is taking Star Wars month, which they almost always do throughout the month of May, right? Because that’s when they the fourth will be with you. The

Kelli 15:10
fourth be with you and Life Day is somewhere around in their lifetime I should say I’m right. At the end right now November,

Chris 15:19
November, I think. In any case, they are stretching it out to entire two months, at least this this time. It’s going from April the fifth through June the second Wow. Okay, that’s Yeah, they did this back in 2015, I think but then they’ve decided to relaunch it this year. I feel like there was something that came with it was a 25th anniversary, something has been out for 25 years, maybe I can’t remember. But they decided to re launch the Season of the Force, which will last two months. Okay. So I thought I’d talk about some of the things that they’re doing at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim to celebrate Season of the Force has a lot of cool things happening. Number one, which is an increasingly popular thing is a scavenger hunt. Right so you can go to star traders in Tomorrowland, you can pick up your scavenger hunt, sort of placard your scorekeeper deal. And the idea is you’re gonna go around Tomorrowland and Galaxy’s edge, and solve puzzles or look for clues to fill out your secret code or card. And then you take it back to Star traders and you’ll get a prize. If you’re not interested in spoilers, close your ears for five seconds. As I tell everybody else close your ears right now. It’s a trading card that you get whenever you fill out thing.

Kelli 16:39
I thought you’re gonna say a pin. It’s a trading card.

Chris 16:43
hope that’ll happen in five seconds for those people that didn’t want to know. So anyway, scavenger hunt, and that’s always popular to walk around and find things I like the idea that there are puzzles to solve and that sort of stuff. And I think the ultimate thing too is you solve these mini puzzles and then that you solve a bigger puzzle at the bottom of your placard. I also think that star traders will just give you the the prize at the same time they you start the effort. You

Kelli 17:11
know I was that that does sound like something that Disney would do. But I tell you at the thing at the poly where you had to find Hey, hey, oh, yeah, it was pretty specific. Like she wanted to see the picture on the phone. She didn’t find it.

Chris 17:25
Did you find it your button? Yes. Because I made a joke with her about hey, can I have you know, I found Hey again. And she’s like it hasn’t moved.

Kelli 17:35
Right now there’s I think sometimes hay has not been depending on the cast member you get. i She

Chris 17:41
was delightful, but she was like willing to give me more. No, no, certainly not. I

Kelli 17:47
wouldn’t. I wouldn’t just tell people then go ask for it. Sometimes right need to play the game.

Chris 17:54
Alright. Hyperspace Mountain returns to Tomorrowland at Disneyland during the Season of the Force. Okay, right. So this is the Star Wars overlay that they they incorporate at Space Mountain is the one in Paris always. Hyperspace Mountain what think it is? Is that what Hyperspace Mountain I think it is if that in which case? absolutely worth it. Really, really cool. salutely Yes,

Kelli 18:20
we went much better Space Mountain experience. We’ve

Chris 18:23
always maintained that the Space Mountain experience in Disneyland is better than the one at Magic Kingdom for a number of reasons. One of which is that they have a better sound and video system incorporated into it. They shut that thing down 10 to 12 years ago did a major overhaul of that attraction which included increased abilities for sound and video ride smoother to and the rider says it’s it’s a double you know, Double Ride car two seat ride car.

Kelli 18:51
You can sit next to the redheaded ghost. That’s right. That’s right. Listen to your segments on yeah, really do listen to them. I learned things and learn things. Thank

Chris 19:01
you. So yeah, really, really cool. Sort of. I mean, just Star Wars I mean, sorry, Space Mountain with Star Wars music alone. It would be really really cool. Yes, but in this case, you are piloting an X Wing fighter and engaged in a daring space dogfight with Thai fighters and you come across Star Destroyers and all that that judges the quite a bit of used years twice now

Unknown Speaker 19:29
you’re really into judging I am

Chris 19:32
just I feel like it’s judging up me today. Okay, Star Wars The adventure continues look. Maybe the most underrated attraction at any of the parks that it is included in Star Star Tours. Oh Star Tours Love it. Love it loves Star and it’s hard. It’s basically just a simulation ride but they did what seemed obvious, but it took everybody a long time to realize oh, we just create some new movie isn’t some new experiences we can make this ride be different every time you go on it and it has been for us

Kelli 20:06
yeah I’ve never been on the same one twice yeah so water this time that which we went

Chris 20:10
really it was really cool so but now they are going to starting it yeah when April the fifth they we get new locations and characters we get a Ahsoka ah we get Cassie and andorre we get dinged Jaren you love didn’t Jaren Oh

Kelli 20:28
yeah, I do. That’s a person on Star Wars that I love.

Chris 20:33
That’s the Mandalorian dear.

Kelli 20:34
Okay, yeah. It’s a person on Star Wars that I love we get to we get to you’re talking about I

Chris 20:42
know you did. We get to visit Perea where we encountered the purgeable These are the large huge great space whales that are able to travel through hyperspace, we see them I know you do. Some people might might not that we see them on the rebel series and in Ahsoka, right? Of course we do. So really, really excited about being able to experience that now. Even though this season of The Force is happening at Disney Land. We get that in Disney World also, they’re bringing that to the Star Tours right at Hollywood Studios. Okay. New characters and back to so the little BD X droids, the BD droids that are that we grow to love in the video game, fallen order. We, they were hanging out in that too. They are so tiny. There’s three of them. They thought about naming them Huey, Dewey and Louie, but they they haven’t officially named them yet. But there’s a video online right now. Brooke McDonald posted that video of them dancing.

Kelli 21:40
Oh my goodness. I

Chris 21:41
mean, they’re like knee high. And these things are dancing. Incredible. Incredible. Jeff so cute. presh Sabine Wren from the rebels. Oh, actually from a souca souca version of Sabine Wren is now going to be meeting people and back to she’ll be walking around, which is really, really cool along with the Mandalorian and Greg who are still out there and Chewbacca and stormtroopers and Kylo Ren, they all still there, but they’re introducing Sabine rendering this Season of the Force. She’s, she’s cool. She’s really cool. Very excited about a new firework show. Now. Let’s not go overboard by calling it truly a new firework show. Okay, here’s what they’re here’s what they’ve done. People sort of learned that at Disneyland. A really cool place to watch the fireworks that are going on, you know, the nightly fireworks on Main Street. A cool place to watch them from was Galaxy’s edge, you get a little bit of a different perspective. But what you miss is the music in sync with the fireworks in the show. Right.

Kelli 22:43
So what’s a huge deal there? It’s a big deal. It’s a dance party.

Chris 22:47
Yeah, it is. They do a good job there. It’s high energy. Yeah. Now what they’re going to do here is this is called a fire of the rising moon. Since we’re shooting off fireworks, and we’ve got some people that have decided to come around to Galaxy’s edge to watch but it’s pretty quiet over there during the fireworks. Okay, they have taken Star Wars music from all the different movies and John Williams soundtracks and all these various places and synced it up with the fireworks that are already going on on Main Street. Okay, because you get a great view of the fireworks they go off over the black spire mountain range. But now if you want to watch them from Galaxy’s edge, you get a full on show that is synced up with the same fireworks. That’s all just now we’re going to we’re going to use music from Star Wars that we’ve synced up to the existing firework show. Here’s what that’s going to do. That’s going to have mange that’s going to relieve some of that pressure on mainstream there. And they’re going to go over to Galaxy’s edge. And what undercover tourists let’s create point, make sure you go two days because you’re gonna want to see it from Main Street, you’re gonna want to sit and have from galaxies. So, I love that idea. Yeah. And if they got if they got like some lighting effects that are taking place in galaxies edge and, and some lasers, maybe Yeah, I mean, that’s uh, they recommend watching it from either the title or the TIE Fighter is sitting or where the Millennium Falcon is. Okay,

Kelli 24:26
so that’s also really really cool there. That is very cool

Chris 24:30
and like using what we’re already doing, we’re gonna expand that out like that might have another season of The Force Tomorrowland just dedicated to food because they have done a lot of food stuff.

Kelli 24:41
Okay, that’s very cool. Well, I have World Showcase today, and I’m going to talk about the topiaries of the Flower and Garden Festival. I may pull up my homework. The first time we went and we took our kids the youngest was eight Yeah. Eight We’re walking around and she just suddenly turns to us and she goes, they do such a good job with the grass they

Chris 25:07
do. They do a good job with the grass,

Kelli 25:09
okay the guy or like, she’s not wrong, they do a really good job with the grass. So I want to talk about the 10 best topiaries at this year’s Flower and Garden Festival, which is saying something it is because there’s plenty there’s tons. There’s way more than this. I’m just going for the 10 best that I think are the best. Okay, two of these are new. And some of these are old favorites, but they’re they’re the best for me in no particular order. Okay, no particular order. The first one is Figgy. Now, figment is over in world celebration Plaza. And he is sort of set up on top of these two areas like like rose garden, right? Yeah, it looks like looks like a fountain. If you have the Figgy topiary and dreamlike Valley very similar. But this has these huge pink flowers like leading up to Figgy now we got close enough and I think Figgis man of all succulents

Chris 26:06
I think says it which was really beautiful to see really beautiful I mean he’s he’s purple but yeah when you get really close he’s so many different shades yes purple and lavender and he’s he’s gorgeous is really

Kelli 26:19
really cool. And so essentially some of the stuff that they did this year that slightly different is they incorporated a lot of statue type things in with the topiaries now these these are still you know, floral and green and all that so like those big pink flowers that I was talking about the the flowers themselves are statues, right right, but the center of the flower is more topiary. So it’s really cool how they did that but I love so much that they made Figgy basically this the centerpiece of the park with this topiary I think they did such a such a good job. I

Chris 26:55
think the center of those flowers might be the same succulents that most of his body is made out of. Yeah, and

Kelli 27:00
I gotta tell you, like I have killed so many succulents. When I see this many succulents on one thing, I just think it’s just it’s begging for death. This is what a miracle. I don’t know if these are like preserved in some way. I have no idea how they’re how they’re managing this, but I would kill diggy in a heartbeat. Oh, I know. So sorry. Forget the next one Tiana. Now, I love Tiana. She’s at the American adventure. Tiana has a beautiful, beautiful dress that she’s wearing. She’s gorgeous. And what I love though about her is there’s like this arch behind her. It sort of has like, I’m going to call it Spanish mall, when it kind of looks like it’s like the moss that’s hanging off the trees in Savannah and Charleston. You know, which is so very Louisiana probably Louisiana. Right so very very Tiana. I just adore that.

Chris 28:00
It’s a gorgeous it’s a gorgeous topiary that it’s I don’t know it’s

Kelli 28:04
it’s you can’t her dress is just so beautiful. It’s ridiculous

Chris 28:08
and like the use of the hoop just like she’s like she’s standing in front of a big whoop. You can imagine that is like either like a Tinkerbell type thing or some fireworks sort of tumbling down behind her. It’s really so

Kelli 28:21
so powerful. The next one is new and this is the Groot. The group topiary now Groot is over near Guardians of the Galaxy cosmic rewind. And he’s this is a new topiary. So this is probably teenage Groot holding like a cassette tape. And so I’m going to give you a little bit of background because this one’s brand new is this for the first time Groot, the flora Colossus, from the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy has taken root near cosmic rewind world discussing what they did see what they did there. The design draws inspiration from the entertaining I am Groot short, that’s featured on Disney plus, I don’t think I’ve watched this titled group takes a bath, where the lovable character discovers his topiary parent powers. I haven’t seen that as somewhat turned out. As part of the innovative evolution of topiary production, the team has seamlessly integrated 3d models into the complete development and production pipeline for the second consecutive year. Leveraging 3d modeling goes beyond ensuring visual accuracy it plays a role in integrating special effects and lighting presentations for The Topiary. So the team utilizes 3d modeling and printing enhance with traditional sculpt material and paint to ensure the depiction of group was as precise as possible. The focus on maintaining the integrity of the character while continuing to streamline the design and the construction process has motivated us to improvise and evolve how the Epcot international Flower and Garden topiary team creates and builds these incredible pieces of living art each year. Explain Stephen Montevallo he’s one of the designers in true Guardians of the Galaxy fashion group is holding a mixtape titled greenhouse mix Volume One with his own soundtrack playing. It’s the first time a musical element has been incorporated into a topiary at Epcot. Nice so that’s cool.

Chris 30:18
And the scenery around him is very alien looking. Oh, it’s

Kelli 30:23
fantastic. Yes,

Chris 30:24
it’s very much great running around and on some alien planet Tut’s

Kelli 30:28
bro next up lady in the tramp This is in World Showcase over in the Italy pavilion. I love Lady in the tramp this thing that I love most about this depiction a their dogs which I love, but it’s lady’s ears.

Chris 30:44
Yeah, I knew when I saw this picture, and I knew it was in your top 10 I was like, this thing’s been here for a long time. I don’t think this is new. It’s it’s her ears. Man. That’s what

Kelli 30:55
love her ears. I want to sort of scratch right behind I know, give her kiss around little nose or blooper or something. It’s just the cutest thing. Her ears are poofy and fluffy. And I’m like, how do they do that with grass? I don’t know. But it’s love.

Chris 31:12
It’s beautiful. And he’s like, Hey, girl. How you doing? How you doing? And she’s giving him some side. I see. I see you.

Kelli 31:28
Next one. We could not stop talking about this when we were there. In March. It’s the Encanto

Chris 31:38
topiary the whole thing at the top you Mirabelle?

Kelli 31:41
Antonio, Isabella and Louisa. But the one you want to see is Antonio This is between Disney traders in the port of entry you can’t miss it as you’re welcome to World Showcase. Antonio’s hair is the best is the best thing going. I can’t think of another topiary that is more lifelike and that makes me want to just stick my hands in it and just like Ruff ruff hair.

Chris 32:05
I want to give Antonio just a little soft familiy so bad. Oh my

Kelli 32:09
goodness, it is perfection. So whoever was in charge of Antonio’s hair, well done.

Chris 32:14
Somebody said look at this kid’s hair in the movie. We need a plant that is going to duplicate this. Yes. And they Nailed it. Nailed

Kelli 32:22
it. They nailed it. The first ever projection mapped topiary is in Mexico. This is Miguel and Dante. Oh, so in Mexico Guess we’ll get to see our first ever topiary enhance with special projection effects featuring Miguel from the Pixar Animation Studios film Coco. Miguel can be seen here in his mariachi attire with his great great grandfather’s guitar and Dante in his Alibre ye form flying over a marigold bridge. With the bright and vibrant colors we see in the realm and Coco, it seemed like an obvious choice when they propose the idea of using projection mapping technology to enhance Dante during the evening hours. Once we decided to create Dante, I immediately began testing glowing materials like solar charged paint and various effects to portray his at the real glow. During the day Dante looks like the rest of the topiary family. As the sun begins to set guess should start seeing his hints of solar charge paint beginning to glow, and at night his glow will shine even brighter through the use of prediction mapping technology on pushing contrast between day and night allows us to incorporate more lifelike elements into these characters, providing guests with an unexpected element of surprise on the evening, and it’s amazing.

Chris 33:43
I love it so much Dante

Kelli 33:45
is awesome. The marigold bridge amazing. I love that he glows it’s so

Chris 33:50
so I just love it there that’s a new topiary I love that they’re like we’ve got to come up with we’ve we have led the world in these topiary designs, but we’re now we’re going to do even more. Yes and do more.

Kelli 34:01
I love it. Next up is beauty in the beast in the France pavilion. not new. This is not new. But I just love it. I just love

Chris 34:11
how many pictures you think we have in front of them. 1000 1000

Kelli 34:15
I just love it. Next up also not new is Bo Peep. Now Bo Peep is standing there with her sheep and woody they are in world of nature between imagination and the land pavilion. What makes this so great is the sheep. The sheep’s hair is made out of monkey grass. Yes. I have never wanted to try to recreate a topiary.

Chris 34:40
They are adorable.

Kelli 34:41
I think they are brilliant. They’re brilliant. Okay, I’m gonna hurry up because at two more, these two are also new. The dragon in the China pavilion, not new. He’s out in the water. Also made from succulents crazy beautiful. I can’t crazy it’s phenomenal but who Whoever worked on that dragon, props to you. Gorgeous. And then finally Simba and friends which is in world nature near the land. It’s Rafiki Mufasa Nala and rific he’s holding up baby Simba. What I love most is Baby’s Emma’s face. Because like he’s not like smiling. He’s like, oh gosh, what’s happening here? But rific his beard is also symbols name.

Chris 35:33
Mufasa Mufasa is me.

Kelli 35:35
Yeah, no, that’s my boss’s name. So that’s not Nala.

Chris 35:38
Oh,

Kelli 35:39
that’s Mufasa

Chris 35:41
Oh, no, no, I think you’re right. I think I’m totally wrong. I think this is Simba and Nala and they’re, they’re new and at the end at the end of the movie. I think you’re right.

Kelli 35:50
No, it The description says we’re fakie Simba. Mufasa and Sarabi Okay, all right. I’m wrong. Yes, yes. So, but again, my boss’s name is crazy is a phenomenal THAT’S IT world of nature near the land.

Chris 36:04
What do you think they used for that?

Kelli 36:05
I don’t even know. I don’t even know straw. Hey, painted it dark brown. I’ve no idea. It’s gorgeous. These are some brilliant, brilliant people.

Chris 36:13
Kudos to the Imagineers that come up with theories. Yes, these are just 10 but they’re all crazy. Go online

Kelli 36:19
