This week, though, begin their little process of trying to combat Disney’s consolidation of power with the previous board. They will release their meetings this this week of their intentions this week, something called they’re going to pass an amendment called the superior authority amendments. Like maybe workshop that name a little bit, you know, because the fascism board was taken. Apparently, Hitler was they will fire the current development and planning board and replace it with their own resources for urban planning organization. give me Tomorrowland. I’m excited about it. Alright. So in case you know, we haven’t mentioned it. I were going to be at Disneyland Paris a couple months. And so we are staying at Disney’s Hotel in New York. And it’s called the hotel in New York, the art of Marvel. And I thought it’d be fun to sort of go into a few details about that, actually, just because I wasn’t super familiar with it. I understood the theme, but I didn’t really know what all there was there. You know. And so I wanted to look at it. So first of all, I will just say that we are using DVC points for this. While we are there, honey, it’s going for $1,115 per nights per night. I mean, in case you say hey, she wants to know the value of DVC. We’re there

okay, so this hotel is is near Disneyland Paris. It was designed by a post modern architect, Michael Graves. He cited 1920s and 1930s art deco still very much true to that style. It was supposed to it says echo the essence and feel of New York City. So that’s been released since it launched. So the exterior of the hotel is a stylized size site, the skyscraper, okay. And what I mean by that is it looks a lot taller than it really is that forced perspective. Yes, it’s got like a lot of tiny windows and so it looks like it’s like 12 or 13 storeys tall, but really, it’s not which is really cool. So the hotel opened originally April 12 1992. So fun tie in there with this week. I didn’t do that on purpose at the opening of the resorts will open when Disneyland Paris opened. In 2017, it was announced that the hotel will be given a Marvel Comics read theme and rename becoming the what we’re going to visit closed in 2019. It was supposed to reopen in 2020 that got delayed, delayed delayed, and it just opened in 2021 after the COVID 19 pandemic. Okay, so let me tell you a little bit more about this. So this is they describe it as more than a hotel, a masterpiece. Live the high life in this completely reimagined four star hotel, enjoy Manhattan style, comfort and personalized service. This is contemporary New York style, it was more than 350 pieces of superhero artwork by 110 different international artists. It’s also described as being a Thor hammer throw from the parks. So let me give you sort of a map in your head of the Disneyland Resort in Paris. So think of a circle. I mean, if you look at the map of Disneyland Paris, it’s a circle like literally a circle. If you split that circle, sort of right down the middle resorts are on one side parks are on the other. Okay, basically. All right. So we are at the art

of Marvel with their downtown Disney area sort of in between in between,

but really, the Downtown Disney area is more on the resort side. Okay, but in any case, we’re at the art of Marvel, which is the closest to Disney village, which is their downtown Disney area. And so we will be able to walk through Disney village on our way to the parks. We can also take a short little tram ride. But yes, we’ll walk right through Disney village. So a couple of extras if you stay there, you do get extra magic time. Fun fact. The Paris resorts have a dining plan? Oh, yes, there is a New York Boutique for all Marvel souvenirs and their exclusive collectibles there. There is a superhero station, which is the only place in any of the Disney hotels where you can meet your favorite superheroes. They say you have to book this in advance. And it’s very interesting superheroes like Black Widow. Yeah. So it’s, it’s not your average superhero. And you have to book it because they really book out. What do I do that in the app that I told you to download approximately one hour ago, Marvel Design Studio, you can unleash your inner artist and learn how to draw your own comic book also need to make reservations for that’s cool. And they say if you want to bulk up like the Hulk, there’s a fitness center. For those more like me, you can also relax and recharge by the pool or in the sauna and steam room ice. So all of the restaurants are themed after the New York boroughs. Okay, so I’m gonna go through sort of what we can expect at the restaurants and I’m pretty excited about this. Okay. Okay, so the first one is the Manhattan restaurant. This is going to be your top two your restaurant really, really nice, right? Really nice. They have things like creamy risotto, fresh pasta and a selection of appetizing aunty pasta. This is a Italian themed This is a sit down table service restaurant. It is rumored that Peter Parker and Mary Jane love to dine here on date night. Oh, I would love to see them. Contemporary Italian dishes bursting with flavor excellent service and elegant setting underneath an Asgardian chandelier. So it’s real nice. This is a very, very nice nice hotel think gold and white linens with fancy schmancy tables. And so your next hotel is the downtown restaurant. This is a buffet. Now the cool part about this buffet, you know I’m not for buffets. The cool part about this buffet is that each buffet section is a different part of New York like a different cuisine. Okay, so they have tons of art deco Marvel sketches up on the walls, the different areas on the buffet, Chinese American and Italian cuisine. And you can swing through these sections like SpiderMan through New York on rooftops of this cosmopolitan culinary journey. This energy man, I love it. So there’s a breakfast buffet and then I’m gonna assume at lunch, at least a lunch maybe at dinner buffet, but the breakfast buffet has everything you would expect pastries, bread rolls, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruits, and savory fruit foods to traditional European breakfast, cold meats, cheese, scrambled eggs, et cetera. And there’s also a range of alternatives for vegan. Yes, complete with plant based milk alternatives. And when it’s not breakfast, then you can go from Chinatown to Little Italy and just a few steps. It says with mouthwatering anticipation as your meal is prepared before your very eyes. I would give this buffet They are shot. Okay. Gildan sold so I would give this buffet a shot. Okay, and then we’ve got a bar and a lounge. So the bar is called the skyline bar. This is cool. So the view out the windows looks like the skyline of New York. Okay, so

think I’ve seen pictures the real windows where you are. The skyline of New York is complete with Stark Tower horse and Spider Man swings by windows and like plants his feet there and waves at you. So it’s a pretty cool thing you know in Spidey swings by it’s also pretty cool to see Stark Tower and stuff there. The cocktails look amazing, like really colorful. There’s one called the Green Smash, which has dark rum, Blue Curacao, mango puree, pineapple juice, lemon juice and fresh mint. It looks like the bottom the bottom three quarters of it is green. Okay, top one quarter is purple. Like it looks like a whole it’s like a hawk drink. Yes. You’ve also got snacks savory, sweet and ice cream. I love that they didn’t include ice cream and with the sweet bunch of snacks. I think that’s a very key distinction that I appreciate seems intentional that things like crabcakes bourbon, vanilla cream brew les Spiderman 3d ice. I don’t know what that is and a bunch of different flavors of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. They also have a Doctor Strange pastry Oh, which is a crispy puff pastry, vanilla whipped cream red berry compote, merengue and coconut is. It looks there’s a lot going on. And now it’s interesting that this pastry is also at the Bleecker Street and lounge which is the other the other place they actually share a lot of the same snack type foods. Sure, okay. But the Bleecker Street Lounge has some very clear dr. strange inspo Okay, so this says you enter this portal to an easygoing dimension for some chill times and themed drinks in a super trendy Manhattan loft style lounge. So think like brick walls, mid century modern furniture, a backlit bar. Yeah, you know it really, really cool. Sample A selection of fine craft beers, organic wine, soft drinks and copies coffees at this hip loft style Hangout. So they actually have craft beers from Manhattan.

So the windows overlook like Disney view. And then they have some really cool non alcoholic cocktails that I would totally give a go. But their signature cocktail is the orange ring cocktail. This has cognac, bitter orange liqueur, fresh orange juice, fresh lemon juice, ginger ale, blood orange flavor syrup, non alcoholic drinks, carrot cake juice, carrot and pineapple juices, Greek yogurt, nuts, cinnamon and nutmeg and it has a little carrot on top of it. Really cute. And ancient Tea. Sumi tea Chai of the Tiger tea, almond vanilla drink honey, apple puree and cinnamon. Yeah, a lot of the same snacks as Skyline but they also have sandwiches, salads, and New York cheesecake. Yeah, I’m pretty excited about it. And I got into looking at a lot of the hotel restaurants Yeah, and I’m definitely going to do sort of a deep dive here over the next few weeks okay

Why because last fall Disney announced that they will become the international distributor for doctor I love it love it these are like two of my favorite things smashing together it’s going to be great so in short this obviously there was a lot of consternation oh my gosh Disney is going to do to Doctor Who would they did the Star Wars for the people that don’t like what Disney did the Star Wars you’re breaking cannon and all that kind of stuff. The distributor well that’s what we’ve now yes we understand that now. But you know Disney is a big bear so but But yeah, that’s what effectively it should mean is that the day will be the international distributor BBC will continue being the show distributor for the UK BBC One will run the episodes BBC will produce it. All that fun stuff, right? What it could mean though. is and what the hope is, is that it will mean bigger budgets for future productions. Right? Because that’s one of the doctor who has always looked like they made the most of a little bit of money. Yeah, if you know what I mean. Yeah. So hopefully this will mean big budgets in the future. So if you are not a Whovian, but you want to catch up before the November launch, that’s when I think the next the next series here we go. She also loves she does a doctor who she we’ve got somebody cutting grass next door, but she’s also got a bone she doesn’t know what to do it yourself. So, if you don’t know anything about doctor, who are you just been, you know, on the fringes here. Here’s some things you just have to know. Doctor Who is an alien who presents his human. He’s a he’s what we would call a time sheet, not gender specific stress. Right? They are a Time Lord. Technically, for the long time, the last time lord, although we know that there is another at least one other time, Lord from the planet Gallifrey. Okay, they have the power to regenerate. All right, this is a huge, huge plot point and a major reason that the show has been able to continue to so many years and so many leading actors, actresses, et cetera. Yes, the character is the same doctor who is always Doctor Who and ultimately maintains the same belief system of fighting for right fighting for the marginalized, etc. But each doctor has their own personalities depending on who’s playing the doctor, right. So the character is the same, but each doctor is different doctor is different, like a different actor or actress. They bring their own idiosyncrasies to the role, right, right. Yes. So the show like I said earlier, split into two sort of genres. Classic two with the first eight doctors and new who as we say, nine through what will be 15 later this year,

Sometimes there’s just one companion sometimes there’s a couples are number 13 or most recent lot, like for I know, so just you never know. But the doctor does not like to travel alone. Right? That’s that’s what we definitely and normally there’s not romantic sexual tension. Almost almost never in fact, almost. Almost never. In today’s world, we know that the doctor did have one true love. Yes. So the showrunners routinely changed the rules around the doctor retconning as it were, as we call it, right? This is a mortal sin say like in the world of Star Wars. But in Doctor Who fans can be irked by it a little bit, but most understand that there are almost no No roles too sacred to be changed in the world of Doctor Who. And usually those changes are met with huge excitement. Once we found out that the doctor gotten a new set of regenerations, for example was supposed to be the end at number 12 I think but then suddenly suddenly we’ve changed the rules. And we love it right so we’re all for it. Any break and any breaking continuity, by the way, can just be written off as wibbly wobbly timey why me aspects of time travel? As explained to us by David Tennant’s Doctor, Doctor Who villains are sitting are in situations ranged from classic horror to supernatural, metaphysical silly, but some are recurring. Yes, we learn we learn all about the TARDIS. How the TARDIS even identifies in one episode. Effectively character. Its darkness the doctor spaceship. That’s that’s what the TARDIS is. Literally the reason that the show can take place at any moment in history and anywhere in the universe is because of the TARDIS. It also is what is it? It’s bigger on the inside. It’s bigger. Right? Always a fun moment when new companions are introduced to the TARDIS, which uses TARDIS or uses Timelord technology, which allows it to be basically infinite in size on the inside. The only issue is that its cloaking device is broken. It is stuck looking like a British police box. So while it looks like a small British police box, it’s infinitely large on the inside. The interior design also changes with each new regenerated doctor. Yep. The Sonic Screwdriver. Powers largely undefined but often serves as a Get Out of Jail Free card for the writers largely stuck inside of a locked room with no exits. Use the sonic face to face with a multitude of armed enemies ready to gun you down. Use the Sonic to disable their weapons it works every time. I love that Jodie Whittaker made her own she made her own Yes, I love it because the doctor scans whatever they’re trying to figure out looks at the sonic sideways. We don’t know if the Sonics had a little screen on it. But it gives the doctor all the answers. A huge effective plot device. Yeah, the clothes make the man or woman Tom Baker was synonymous for his ridiculously long scarf and floppy hat Chris Eccleston had a leather jacket. Tennant or David Tennant wore suits with tennis shoes. Matt Smith Bow ties are cool. Sometimes also Affairs says yeah, the latest the first woman Jodie Whittaker went with gender neutral rainbow T long coat high water pants and suspenders. totally adorable. I love this. Look, this show cannot be taken too seriously. It is meant to be campy and fun. What starts out as a ghost story may end up being an alien rescue story. Right? But somehow as the Brits do so well is just chock a block full of heart and it is it’s just ridiculous show that has no continuity half the time will bring you to tears sometimes with its with the heartfelt nature of who the doctor is and and really it’s who we want everybody to be is to be like the doctor. He would love to see a boatload of spin offs a whole channel for Doctor Who like a doctor who who universe like we see with Star Wars or or Marvel or whatever right?
