Chris 0:28
Welcome aboard Disney fam. Welcome aboard indeed Disney fam. My name is Chris.

Kelli 0:37
And I’m Kelly.

Chris 0:37
Welcome to this week’s show. We’re so happy you decided to join us Kelly is so happy in fact that I would say she’s wearing her Miss Piggy ears today but I don’t know that that’s actually accurate miles

Kelli 0:52
an hour sharing them. You’ll see on instant, instant sharing years. These are my I think my fanciest years. They’ve got perils

Chris 0:59
and yeah, they’re fancy. They got pearl. So big, bigger jewel

Speaker 1 1:03
going fancy today. Oh, okay. Um,

Chris 1:07
and my favorite things to check out where we got downloads from this week. And I’m very excited about this first one because we got to download from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Kelli 1:16
Oh,

Chris 1:17
the dirty Myrtle the Grand Strand

Kelli 1:20
that night.

Chris 1:24
Some of our stomping grounds down there. We love it. as wacky as it is. I am sure I’m gonna say this town wrong. So I apologize in advance for the people of I’m gonna call it Placencia plus, Cynthia.

Kelli 1:40
That’s not a good name.

Chris 1:42
It’s a bad name. What

Kelli 1:44
state are these people in California?

Chris 1:45
These These folks are about 50,000 people bordering robbery right on the border with Anaheim. Their Anaheim neighbors. So they probably said they’re from Anaheim.

Kelli 1:57
They probably do I can’t imagine that. They say they’re from anywhere other than Anaheim.

Chris 2:04
Smithfield, Rhode Island. Okay, not just northwest of Providence, the beautiful state of Rhode Island, tiny little beautiful state. And I’m excited about dundonald, Northern Ireland just outside of Belfast, John Donald dundonald As

Kelli 2:18
in like he’s burnt.

Chris 2:22
Yeah. Yeah, like Donald Duck. Duck is done, man. Donald Duck was out in the sun too long. And now he’s done. dundonald done, Donald,

Kelli 2:31
welcome done, Donald. You

Chris 2:33
know what, you know how they pronounced on town names over there? Yes. It’s

Kelli 2:36
not like that.

Chris 2:37
It’s probably like Cheshire Yeah,

Kelli 2:39
I don’t think it’s even close to dundonald. But, Donald, but you’re welcome. dundonald.

Chris 2:45
We’re huge in Northern Ireland. US honey. Yep, here we go Main Street. So Florida State Legislature passed the bill officially and then Ron DeSantis signed the bill into law that effectively attempts to remove Disney special tax status, dissolving the Reedy Creek improvement district that gave them the tax status they’ve got in 1967 is not set to take effect for a little while. And you’ll see articles out there that say Florida removes Disney’s special tax status, etc. That hasn’t happened yet. Scott Gustin who we follow on Twitter. He’s a great person to follow for Disney stuff. He called out a statute in Florida law that says that the actual residents of Reedy Creek improvement district had to also vote on this which is likely not going to pass if they do since it would raise all their taxes by 22 to $2,800. If they did, just about 25% You know, who knows political muscle show? It is it is

Kelli 3:56
exhausting. Wouldn’t it be great like if they use their time to work on gun legislation for good?

Chris 4:05
So I’m gonna guess especially if he loses the election in November, he only won it last time by 30,000 votes if he loses in November. I’m gonna guess this dies the very next day. So, um, some little bit happier news, I guess. Walt Disney World and Disneyland have officially dropped their mass mandates for indoor transportation so like monorails and buses no longer have to wear although they still heavily encourage it if you’re immunocompromised or if you haven’t been vaccinated for any reason. But that’s no longer required in those settings. Magic Kingdom news. This is interesting. Okay, you can now purchase a spot on Cindy’s Castle, high salt to have your picture from Fed Up Your PhotoPass picture displayed on the castle. So for 10 bucks you can be part of The Cinderella Castle mural of memories but it’s not for real. Is

Kelli 5:04
it permanent?

Chris 5:05
No, no, this is a, it’s a projection. It’s a projection.

Kelli 5:08
That’s what I thought I saw. And I was like, this is a projection and I’m gonna be really tiny. It’s gonna be like the people over in Epcot where you have to, like zoom in on their faces,

Chris 5:17
like that label, let set leave a legacy thing.

Kelli 5:20
That’s what it’s gonna be like, yeah, it’s,

Chris 5:23
you know, I don’t know, I don’t know what it’ll be like, but it’ll be for three years. That’s what your 10 bucks gets you. And if you’re, you know, there’s a

Kelli 5:32
three year projection like it’s projected and day and night for three years. Of course,

Chris 5:36
I don’t I mean, no. Go out. They’ve got an answer for that. But the thought was gonna go out.

Kelli 5:46
Paid $10. I don’t want the bulb

Chris 5:53
if you if you’re an annual pass holder, DVC member or club 33. Member, your your photo will have a border that reflects that affiliation. But if you’re two of the three, though, which one? Do you get multiple

Kelli 6:04
borders, you can have three different rotating borders. Wow, that’s really

Chris 6:09
Yeah. Yeah, cast members get to take part in this too, which is cool. So they can also pay $10 to have, you know, I think normally they don’t even get to take part in these kinds of fun little things. So.

Kelli 6:20
So if I say, for example, have one of those moving pictures where like, you know, Mickey is doing some magic and I appear in his hand type of a situation. Is my picture also moving?

Chris 6:35
Their specific still mural that I think it’s a still mural, but you know, I

Kelli 6:40
don’t mean, if it’s projected, why can’t it move? So my frame color could rotate. Yeah, if my annual pass expires during the three years, they pull that frame off? I know. I have a lot of questions.

Chris 6:51
I see. I see you got a lot of questions. I see that we should get those Michigan answers for you. It was definitely a much longer article that I read about it. And I thought it was going to they’ve tried to think of a lot of your questions ahead of time. Well, good. And Epcot connections Cafe has opened saw that which has the Starbucks except right now there was like a dark period was a dark nose in Epcot. And I thought the interwebs were going to revolt. Yes, it was a Epcot is Starbucks. It was a bad jam for it. Oh,

Kelli 7:30
it was a tough day people were taking pictures with the Starbucks sign even though that Starbucks wasn’t open yet. It was tough, tough, tough day at our

Chris 7:39
job freeze was not fitting filling the void it seems for the for the stuff that folks were getting.

Kelli 7:45
Although Jeffries does have the alcohol that you can add they could have drank away their problems there at Joffrey

Chris 7:52
Well, I think they probably did. Right where their problems take their pictures are better a little picture. It’s dark,

Kelli 8:01
dark day at Starbucks closed.

Chris 8:05
So Epcot has revealed the nighttime lighting package for cosmic rewind. It is a very cool Zack Zack Ridley Imagineer posted that on the instance

Kelli 8:17
Yeah, beautiful. I love Zach’s little stuff that he posts like

Chris 8:22
except for the stuff brief connections store you really hated that stuff but

Kelli 8:26
the store absolutely against it. I think mascara was the best store they’ve ever had and they shouldn’t have closed it. I don’t think they have as much marching connections but I’m trying I’m trying to support Zach and all of his endeavors

Chris 8:37
I don’t think you have any data to support Disneyland Main Street I’m gonna say it right the Main Street Electrical Parade has officially returned to Disneyland Disney Parks YouTube channel played it live this past week we went on that what the spectrum magic prayed all whoa I’ve been calling it the electric the electric light per electric light. Which I think I’m getting confused with the band The Electric Light Orchestra

Kelli 9:04
I think I think that is just about yellow there it is. It could possibly be the electric light pray which is really supposed to be the Main Street Electrical

Chris 9:10
Electrical Parade. We watched a little bit of the live stream it both delighted and infuriated me

Kelli 9:20
about every ounce of that

Chris 9:23
along with hugs being back for the meet and greets come autographs Yeah, you’re not down for the autograph?

Kelli 9:31
I’m not and I saw a thing online that was like this is a mistake right is the autographs that take so long in the line? Well no they no

Chris 9:42
interaction they give the interaction with the people you remember when Elena I don’t get

Kelli 9:46
it right because like Olaf can’t sign because he’s just got the twigs Yeah, and so when you go see oh off they give you like a card that’s pre signed, which I don’t get how did he sign that if he can’t sign my book with his twigs? I think it’s you No.

Chris 10:01
So if it’s something I can appreciate the skill required to like have Cinderella’s signature be exactly the same every single time and polka harnesses signatures. Exactly. They have to bet to master the signatures. You

Kelli 10:14
are heavily implying that there is more than one Cinderella. My

Chris 10:19
signature I’m the only one that signs my signature. And mine didn’t even say him ever.

Kelli 10:24
That was a heavy implication there. That she’s not the real Cinderella.

Chris 10:30
I would never I would never. So here here’s a cool thing that it has never been able to happen before because of interest camp was really just launched during pandemic All right, now you can get the superhero autographs and like blog Mickey literally has a sample of all the superhero autographs out there and what they’re gonna look like when you get them.

Kelli 10:47
Oh, that’s interesting. Okay, so like does Ironman signed Tony Stark

Chris 10:53
that’s a great questions. He signed Tony or design iron. Right?

Kelli 10:57
He’s got a sad Tony Stark. Oh, I hope it has to totally start with me with all the good questions today. You’ve

Chris 11:05
got them all for sure. Speaking of Avengers campus, so this So there used to be a land at Disneyland called A Bug’s Land. Okay, and they we thought that they demolished it. You see, we thought they got rid of it and replace it with something else. That’s what we thought, oh, no, no, no, Ant Man and Wasp out there at Avengers campus are carrying around a little miniaturised A Bug’s Land. Oh, that’s fantastic. According to rocket according to them, they didn’t demolish it, since they were gonna get rid of it. And they just asked if he could shrink it for his little ant friends. That’s fantastic. When you when they’re walking around of interest campus, they’ve got a little Matrox exactly exactly what A Bug’s Land used to be.

Kelli 11:49
You’re gonna sell them. You know they are you know that he is just drumming up business for merch. And I don’t hate them. I don’t hate my money. Really. Whoever thought of that was like, give me a pot to put the cash in exactly.

Chris 12:06
Tarzan’s Treehouse will receive an entirely new Disneyland will receive an entirely new backstory and theming rumors are, this is where the incanto overlay is gonna go. I see. I envision Antonio’s Treehouse there in his room in casita.

Kelli 12:25
You don’t want me to go into the racist and sexist fab since I think it’s

Chris 12:29
probably a little overkill. I’m here in the music. I’m feeling the hook here. You know?

Kelli 12:34
Well, I’ll just say I hope it’s in Kanto. I do too.

Chris 12:37
I think make Swiss Family Tree House and Magic Kingdom the same deal the great there’s some construction going to be happening at Blizzard beach. We don’t know what yet but they’re filed permits for some big construction their salt and straw opened up at Disney Springs, another ice cream joint and Disney Cruise lines have updated their itineraries to remove St. Petersburg Russia from their from their trips okay, but I saw the updated itineraries I see a lot of Dover England and includes stops in the Netherlands Denmark, Belgium, Germany and Norway like multiple in Norway. Wow. Yeah. Made me think hey, that’s a that’s a really

Kelli 13:16
expensive way to see you’re

Chris 13:27
always bringing me right back down there. Alright, so onto Tomorrowland. I think it’s gonna be a real foodie episode today. Okay, I’m really I’m thinking it’s gonna be a foodie episode. Okay,

Kelli 13:41
what are you doing?

Chris 13:43
So last week I did the my top 10 counter service quick service restaurants I got to Def got to do number one. Number one is

Kelli 13:54
that on Instagram? I’m like, where is number one.

Chris 13:56
So today, I’m going to do the top five counter service or quick service dining options at Walt Disney World that I have not tried yet. These are in no particular order. Okay. And absolutely. room two for anybody to suggest that these would easily overtake any that I had in my top 10. Okay, because these are all these are all strong options that I just haven’t tried. Okay, haven’t tried them. And shout out to the amazingly good people at Disney tourists blog.com and Disney food blog.com for the help I got from their blog on these selections. Okay. All right. So, number one, no particular order. Okay.

Kelli 14:39
All right, first bullet point. A call you set up five. D

Chris 14:46
Luxembourger at Disney Springs. Oh, no. I’ve heard good things about that. Yes, you have. Yes. It’s one of the few Disney Springs restaurants completely owned and operated by Walt Disney World.

Kelli 14:56
Oh, I did not know that. I didn’t know that either. But

Chris 14:59
now avec de

Kelli 15:03
Lux did not make that connection. I didn’t need it. I’m surprised you did. For me it’s totally doable.

Chris 15:10
Disney tourists bog Disney tourists by cleans it is likely the best burger on property especially at a quick service location. And even better than most of the table service burger options. I am a burger fanatic as you know I mean I

Kelli 15:31
love cheese burger bacon double cheese.

Chris 15:33
This is anytime Kelly asked me if there’s something she can do for me i My canned responses, you could bring me a triple bacon double cheeseburger. entrees here are going to be $15 or less typically pretty straightforward menu. This is burgers, six burgers and one buffalo chicken sandwich along with some really great looking hand cook. French fries have an Impossible Burger. They do not have any kind of a very inclusive restaurant. We’re talking like a Dublin burger that’s got like corned beef, along with their burger. It’s got corned beef and French fried onions and Irish stout barbecue sauce and above main a southern burger, a barbecue burger and El Diablo burger made with Theresa. I mean they really got it going on here. But also very exciting. They have some what they call artisan milkshakes. Those are what I’ve heard about. These are made with gelato, just plain old crappy salt and straw ice cream.

Kelli 16:35
Right? Right. But

Chris 16:38
you can also get two of those milkshakes Mike with some an adult version of but yes, I’ve heard of one of them was like a Bananas Foster milkshake and some kind of bourbon ice cream milkshake.

Kelli 16:51
Oh, wow. Yeah. Oh, wow. In that time, you took me to a restaurant and they offered us dessert and it was Bananas Foster. And you told me I couldn’t have it.

Chris 17:04
That is That is quite a while back. That’s a full on 18 years ago for sure. Maybe 19 years ago, brought

Kelli 17:14
the car over to our table. Wow, she can’t have it. She’s fat.

Chris 17:19
It didn’t say anything like that. Gosh, by the way, the snack shop. I personally baked a cake myself for her that was waiting for us at home. Okay, next up is Woody’s lunchbox. So we’re gonna head over to Hollywood Studios, which honestly, I think needs some better food options, and this is definitely one of them. So as Disney food blog explains the theme in Toy Story land is that when we enter the land, we shrink down to the size of a toy. And we’re hanging out in Andy’s backyard with all of his other toys. Right, Andy has turned his woody lunchbox on its side and it serves delightful dishes to all the other toys including us. The theming in this area, it’s all outdoor seating. But the theming is over the top. You got like tables where pencils are holding up umbrellas and like sometimes the pencils are stuck through a little note from Andy’s mom like they might have been in his lunchbox which is really adorbs here you’re gonna find a barbecue brisket melt a monte cristo sandwich. Yum. I didn’t either. That’s exciting, though. And but then everyone talks about this grilled three cheese sandwich which is crazy. It is over the top incredible mayonnaise

Kelli 18:40
on that thing. There’s mayonnaise also on the inside. I mean that you’re not getting that if you’re on a diet. No, no,

Chris 18:49
no. They serve tacos here, which is basically nachos when they were tater tots. You can get for dessert. They’ve got a homemade like handmade. Sorry, that’s where it’s at a raspberry version, or what you should get is the chocolate hazelnut with candied bacon. Yep, most things here are under 10 bucks. The brisket runs up to about $13. So definitely got to try this at some point. Okay, we’re running over to the animal kingdom where I mentioned try the Haram Bay market. Yeah, we have never we never This is the outside they’ve got the little feature ah, picture of Mickey and everything. The so this is a highly themed outdoor African inspired food court type area, right. And this is a big deal because Animal Kingdom is chock a block full of good food options. From one side of that park to the other. They’ve got great food. And I think this area is sort of designed to absorb a lot of guests. It’s very broad outdoor seating with lots of stalls to go up and order your food. Here’s how Disney describes the market here the citizens of Herat They welcome travelers from all around the world, encouraging guests of every age to tantalize their senses by enjoying a ribs and chicken bowl, a haram Bay salad with chicken, a hotlink bowl they would plant based sausage and a scrumptious Simba cupcake. So these are like rice bowls with either barbecue ribs or chicken but African spiced Thai meals which is you know, delightful. Okay, next one. This is number one Number Four out of five out of five. Okay. Cats are a grill.

Kelli 20:38
Oh, wow. I did not realize that was woke up. Yes. That’s

Chris 20:42
counter service. Yes, yes, exactly. Ah,

Kelli 20:45
no, that’s interesting, literally

Chris 20:47
on every list that you research out there for where should I eat counter service at Walt Disney World? You’ll find this restaurant? Really? Yes. It’s located in a surprisingly secluded little quiet garden. And I’m using air quotes here in the back of the Japan Pavilion at Epcot. At the top of the list you don’t think to get at a theme park would be incredible sushi. Pork ramen, shrimp or veggie Udaan or even like chicken or beef teriyaki dishes or chicken curry dishes. That’s interesting. Yeah, very interesting things here you can get a yuzu cheesecake. Oh wow. Yeah. Or, or something called a mousse cake. Whatever that ends up being. That’s clearly very underrated place very underrated and one of the most you know delightful things about it. According to the people that write about it. Say that they love the location, because it feels like you’re in us. You know, how have crazy thing parks, especially one as busy as Epcot can be right? You feel like you’re in a secluded garden. Like a way it’s quiet for some how they make it quiet. And it’s just a really nice, peaceful way to enjoy your meal.

Kelli 22:06
That sounds lovely. selections here

Chris 22:08
are going to be 16 bucks or less. Okay. Okay, so now we’re at our number and this probably is my number one thing to try that I’ve never tried. Okay. We’re gonna stay in Epcot. Can you guess? What is it? The Regal Eagle Smokehouse at the American Josh? Yes, no, you should have tried this. This is long overdue. It does smell great. That cup so a couple years back the very sad very boring hot dogs and chicken tenders menu at Liberty Tree and the American adventure was replaced by the very sexy looking regal Eagle smokehouse. completely overhauled dining experience complete with an an eye and a nose catching smoker that sits right in the center of the outdoor dining area smell amazing. You’ve seen those cartoons where like, like some cartoon character like the scent of something delicious will come into their noses and lift them up off the ground. They just start flooding. That’s was it. That’s what this does to me. I feel like so I cannot believe I haven’t had it before. But as if is if the barbecue there wasn’t enough it’s all Muppet themed with Sam ego leading the charge. So at this place you’re talking about Memphis dry row pork ribs Kansas City smoked half chicken, a barbecue burger. Slice Texas beef brisket, North Carolina chop, smoked pork. And then they’ve got a couple of salads. They’ve got a plant based jack fruit Bert, circa which is crazy, is like kind of weird miracle fruit. They’ve got sides of beer batter, onion rings, baked beans with burnt ends come on macaroni and cheese. I cannot believe I’ve not eaten there and I’m gonna make it my mission to eat there next time.

Kelli 24:00
There’s just so many good things at Epcot. That’s

Chris 24:03
the problem. And by the time I get halfway through the World Showcase, I’m stuffed.

Kelli 24:08
I think jackfruit is a miraculous thing. But to say that I’m gonna do that instead of anything else in Epcot. Right? I can’t do it. I cannot do that. By

Chris 24:18
the way. The everybody now has on their list at Hollywood studios, the ABC commissary, which I thought was must be the most boring place in the world. To the commissary in here years, maybe decades. But everybody says that they are doing theirs hugely. They all by the way, said they’re surprised by Tuesday they got it on the list, but apparently they’ve improved their menu greatly and it’s a commonplace for them to try out new dishes.

Kelli 24:45
So now that’s interesting. Okay,

Chris 24:47
so here’s my list. Okay, well, I’m

Kelli 24:50
gonna do food and we’re going to stay at Hollywood Studios. She just ended there with the commissary and I’m gonna go to the Hollywood Brown Derby. Okay, so I don’t think we’ve ever done the Brown Derby. And, you know, the reality is it’s not my favorite. But I’m going to read you the write up. So it says step into the Golden Age of Hollywood at this warm, wood paneled restaurant serving contemporary American cuisine. Dine in an authentic replica of the famous Brown Derby, a Tinseltown landmark steeped in glamour and glitz. The walls are adorned with caricatures or famous faces, a tradition that began in the original restaurant and the upscale atmosphere harkens back to the Golden Age of Hollywood. Sure. Now we’ve eaten lunch there, we’ve eaten dinner there. Some meals have been better than others. Sure. But I’m just not sure that the cost justifies the experience, I think is my issue with the derby. We’ve enjoyed it. We have and the service is great. It’s phenomenal. Very next level service is a really nice restaurant. And when you roll up in there, just sweating in places you didn’t know you could sweat, you really do feel, you know, out of place.

Chris 26:02
Although everybody else has the same raise the same way. So it is nice, like we should all be dressed up a little better to go right.

Kelli 26:08
But sometimes it does feel like they’re trying too hard with some of their dishes. That’s the thing like es cargo and a theme park. Sure. But in general, we like it. It’s just not usually at the top of our list at Hollywood studios, right. But so anyway, we’ve never talked about it. So I thought, let’s just do that. So their appetizers are between 13 to $21. And I’m not gonna go into detail on all of them, but I’m just going to hit some and I will also say that they change this menu regularly. I think every time we’ve gone there, they’ve had something different. Something different. Yeah. So they’ve got sea scallops, which have a smoked Chipotle glaze, pork belly. Oh, tomato jam and pea tendrils. I don’t know what that is. I’m going to assume that I’m not going to eat it anyway. They also have an heirloom tomato and burrata salad, a shrimp cocktail, a tuna carpaccio, Nishi Sua. Now as we learned last time, what that means is in the style of nice France, which means it’s got a special olive so this is Kalamata olive toast, quail egg and a green peppercorn aoli. roasted tomato cream soup a charcuterie board which is the most expensive that was $21 Local greens and strawberry salad and then the s cargo Cassina. I

Chris 27:25
am so proud of the way you pronounce charcuterie. Yeah, well, I’m

Kelli 27:29
classy. Their entrees range from $20 to $49. And they’ve got the filet with Walt Disney’s roast beef hash, which is what I typically get. That’s the $49 one. free range chicken cook of in seasonal fish, shrimp and scallops Newberg a sustained sustainable salmon, Cooley BIAC.

Chris 27:56
I’m sure you nailed that. That

Kelli 27:59
has pickled mushrooms, wilted spinach, puff pastry and a mustard dill butter sauce. Then they have our famous Cobb salad.

Chris 28:08
Yes, they that’s always there. Yes. And I don’t really

Kelli 28:11
get the the appeal of a basic Cobb salad. Well,

Chris 28:15
did they in? I don’t know if I’m getting the tribe today. In the original Brown Bear. We invent the Cobb salad.

Kelli 28:21
Oh, it’s possible. So that’s the $20 version. That’s the cheapest entree. But then you can add chicken or shrimp to it. Chicken is seven and shrimp is nine. So in that famous Cobb salad, they’ve got spit roasted turkey, bacon, egg tomatoes, blue cheese, avocado and a classic dressing. What are we get on this is the tomato risotto, which also has eggplant fritters and a pepper relish. But I think every time I’ve been there’s been a different vegetarian dish. And the last time I definitely had an Asian noodle dish. I think it’s the vegetarian pho, which is on the kids menu. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I see. No, no, it wasn’t spicy. It was good. It was good. I really liked it. And then they also have a braised short rib, which is a parsnip puree a spring vegetable succotash and a truffle aoli. So again, it’s not your regular like theme park fair. In any in any way. You usually get the filet because it always has crispy Pash

Chris 29:23
No, that’s that’s a little bit different than what I’ve had before. I’ve had like, oh, gratin potatoes before okay, it’s like that. And I mean even that that’s a $50 is expensive for even a nice fillet it is.

Kelli 29:36
And so that comes with asparagus, wild mushrooms and a brandy mustard cream. Yeah. They also sell enhancements which range from eight to $16 and those are your spoon bread with a lavender honey butter, shrimp mac and cheese which has a chili garlic gremolata. ora chatty pasta and cheddar salts. I will say ora chatty pasta is one of my favorites. It looks like a hand. I think like little little pieces that like just perfectly scoop up. I love or chatty pasta and then grilled asparagus which comes with a fried egg and black garlic truffle vinegar grit. Which I think is interesting. So those are your enhancements the shrimp mac and cheese is the one that 16 the others are really reasonable to date. They also have desserts So fun fact they have one of the 50th celebration dessert, okay, and it is their desserts are all very reasonable. They range 12 to $13. There they have a 50th celebration Baked Alaska Oh, which is layers of strawberry basil, sorbet of vanilla, gelato and sponge cake coated in toasted Marang and a caramelized brownie bites. Doesn’t that sound lovely? Delightful? That sounds worth every penny of $13. They also have a Crim relay which has meant in line master rated strawberries I love a master rated fruit. A decadent flowerless chocolate mocha cake with raspberry and amaretto crumble. A grapefruit craic which is a Brown Derby original vanilla sponge cake grapefruit syrup and a cream cheese icing and a chocolate coconut cake with chocolate sauce and hazelnut cream. That one is plant based. Yeah. So they have good desserts. I think if I went I would definitely give that Baked Alaska ago. Sure because it’s hard to find a baked Alaska for $13. And

Chris 31:38
it’s also again this example how they changed the menu because I know that they’ve had criminal lay and whatnot. Yes, yes.

Kelli 31:44
So they also have a lot of cool cocktails. And one of the cool things about the Brown Derby is that they have a lot of flights. Last time we were there I got the margarita flight. That’s right, which was delightful. It was a really enjoyed it. It’s not currently on the menu, but they do have some other flights and their flights are usually in like the $20 range. Okay, so I really enjoyed the margarita flight but right now they have a section on the menu called after dinner drinks, which I thought sounded really cool. Yeah. So the first one is the magical beacon cocktail. And this is $17 Probably new for the 50th I don’t know if it is or not it has I mean it does have a souvenir glow cube which does heavily imply 50th But so they have the Empress 1908 Gin, Blue Curacao minute made premium lemonade, or yacht which is almond, lemon hibiscus grenadine and then the souvenir glow cube. So that looks very fruity I guess. I don’t know what this is gonna be but it looks fun. It’s got the glow cube. Then they have the Alberto Dante is millionaire cappuccino. This is a $14 Cappuccino. Bailey’s Irish Cream gram on yay kalua and friend Jellico I mean, I don’t think there’s actually coffee in there. Doesn’t actually sake The Nutty Irishman which is $15 Bailey’s Irish Cream and fringe elico topped with whipped cream. Delicious. What is free Angelica?

Chris 33:20
Look, you’re right,

Kelli 33:21
we’re not nearly as classy as we thought we were. Then they have the great fruitcake Martini which is $15 Celebrate the taste of the great fruitcake created at the original Hollywood Brown Derby in the 1940s. Our concoction will delight you with a deep Eddy ruby red grapefruit vodka, Stoli vanilla vodka and a splash of cream with a graham cracker rim. I’m telling you right now I’d

Chris 33:43
be baddies.

Kelli 33:44
I think I could hit that like it was my job. Absolutely hit that like it was my job.

Chris 33:52
Pure class. Classic.

Kelli 33:55
So yeah, so I think the Brown Derby changes up their menu on a regular basis. So it’s definitely one of the nicer restaurants. In the parks.

Chris 34:05
You do feel for some reason you do feel a little awkward in there. You feel

Kelli 34:10
awkward. I always feel unbelievably sweaty in there always just feel really stinky, sweaty, dirty. But it’s nice. It’s different. You know, in recent years, we’ve had no problems getting a reservation. Yeah. Which which worries me well,

Chris 34:28
and Brown Derby also is one of these places that has a lounge. It’s an outdoor lounge where you can order small plates. By the way, I did some real time research here. The Brown Derby in 1937 invented the Cobb salad. Do you know who on their staff invented it? I don’t know who you’re gonna think this is fake, but it’s absolutely true. Okay, Bob Cobb?

Kelli 34:47
Oh, my gosh, his name is Cobb.

Chris 34:49
His name is Bob Cobb,

Kelli 34:51
Bob Cobb invented the Cobb salad for the Brown Derby. Tony I’m so glad that you have listened to my segment and did that research while I

Chris 34:59
was talking? To listen to your host segment

Kelli 35:03
well, congrats, Bob calm.

Chris 35:04
And you know, give it a try. It’s good. It’s

Kelli 35:07
good. It’s good. And I don’t think you’ll have problems getting reservations. I recommend lunch. If nothing else, then the air conditioning. That’s
