Welcome aboard Disney fam. Hello out there Disney fam. Welcome to this week’s episode of Supercalifragilistic awesome Disney podcast. My name is Chris

Kelli 0:39
and I’m Kelly waha

Chris 0:45
What are you wearing?

Kelli 0:46
I wear my haunted mansion ears and technically they glow in the dark. Okay. But because I keep them in my closet all the time and that very perfect Erec that I made sure here. They don’t get enough light to charge up. Okay, so I couldn’t take a picture like that. I posted just a regular pic on the instance. But yeah, Haunted Mansion, ears and my Grim Grinning busts. Right You know, right across the top. Yeah. Very excited. And you know what? It’s on topic for the whole episode.

Chris 1:14
It’s on topic for the whole episode whole episode. Right? It is not even topic a Jason is is right in there. It’s gotten right in their whole episode.

Kelli 1:23
Hey, honey, did anybody listen to us this week? Shockingly.

Chris 1:26
Yes. I believe we got so many your family probably listening from Pelzer South Carolina, or

Kelli 1:35
South Carolina. 669 zip code. How about that bringing it Pelzer? Yeah. Welcome. Pelzer

Chris 1:43
used to listen to a sports radio show and a guy would call in he called himself. He was known as the mayor. Pelzer I think he did used to be the mayor.

Kelli 1:51
Funny. That’s hilarious. Okay. Cary, North Carolina

Chris 1:54
right up there in the Research Triangle areas. Yeah, basically Women’s National Team headquarters up there. Okay. Yeah, Council Bluffs, Iowa. Have we not had Council Bluffs never had Council Bluffs to my knowledge yet so across the river right across the river of Omaha. I might go there from time to time occasionally occasionally. And I did not look up the pronunciation of this next place. So I apologize to all the people there but I’m so grateful you’re all listening. Okay, okay. Give it a go. pinic cubic, cubic, cubic cubic, Scotland. Is that all one word? Yes, Nick cubic. In the Midlothian area of Scotland a lesbian Midlothian

Kelli 2:43
Midlothian, not the upper or lower Lothian but the Midlothian. Yes,

Chris 2:48
right. Okay, right. You got it. You’re all over it.

Kelli 2:51
I know exactly where that didn’t make you. I know exactly where that is.

Chris 2:55
It’s just south of Edinburgh.

Kelli 2:58
I feel like

Chris 2:59
it is yeah, you’re right. Did you did you do know where it is? Exactly where I thought the Midlands just south of Edinburgh? Yeah, I

Kelli 3:06
thought that I definitely thought that. Good for you. All over. Yes.

Chris 3:10
Love. We love all those folks. We love everybody that downloads our podcasts. We are so humbled and grateful. Thank you all so much. You want to hear some mainstream?

Kelli 3:19
Kind of give me the news because I’m pretty excited about some things that happened this week. Are

Chris 3:23
you okay? Well, let’s talk about some really maybe the stuff crappy thing.

Kelli 3:30
Like we read different news.

Chris 3:32
The Central Florida tourism oversight district, formerly known as the Reedy Creek district, whose board and chief administrator is made up of power hungry Ron DeSantis lackeys and sycophants is just doing a fantastic job, as pointed out by the latest substack entry from Jason Garcia, who used to work for the Atlanta or the Orlando Sentinel. I think fantastic. The newspaper there. Yep. His journalism today focuses on corporate accountability in Florida. His latest article focuses on two issues his substack focus on two primary issues the district has lost so much experience in its workforce since the new board was installed that it has effectively become unworkable they cannot fulfill the work they were charged with doing shocked i shocking the other issue is blatant in your face corruption again completely shocked I’m shocked there’s gambling in this establish

Kelli 4:31
I did not see any of that coming yes right

Chris 4:35
from his arm pulling right out of his article here quote altogether record showed these are records that he got through a Freedom of Information Act yeah

Kelli 4:43
for you think oh, yeah, yep,

Chris 4:45
I’ll altogether record showed the district which is now known as the central Florida blah, blah blah, has lost more than 350 years of combined experience in the nine months since DeSantis announced his plans to seize control from Disney. The departures include nearly Half the senior leadership team at the agency formerly known as Reedy Creek, including the district administrator, Chief Financial Officer, the building officials, fire chief and a district clerk.

Kelli 5:10
So they’re firing these people know these people left these people left. You know what good for them. You know why?

Chris 5:15
Former employees according to their exit interviews, he gets Voya former employees at the district that oversees Walt Disney World say Ron DeSantis has installed leaders who are quote, inept, dishonest and toxic. That sound that feels right feels about par for the course feels right. Most of the jobs have been filled, that had been filled by the new board are also given to friends and lackeys as opposed to people experienced in these positions. Gosh,

Kelli 5:40
you know what, this just sounds so familiar. Like in my head, I see. I see the number 2016. Is that right? It’s coming to me. I’m not sure exactly where it’s coming from. But I’m getting the number 2016 Sure,

Chris 6:01
I understand. But why don’t we just move on feels very familiar. So now let’s move on to the Chrome because, you know, the guy that was running his ethics committee, was installed as the administrator. I know, ethics. Yeah, the guy that was running the governor’s ethics committee, who, who dismissed an ethical charge against Ron DeSantis. He put him in as the administrator making $50,000 a year more than the previous administrator was. Some other just blatant

Kelli 6:35
corruption. Okay.

Chris 6:39
In March, the board awarded a $795 and owl our legal contract to a DC law firm whose partners include a former roommate of Ron DeSantis. Yeah, weird that

Kelli 6:53
I am so shocked. That has to just be a coincidence. Sure, it

Chris 6:57
is that that former roommate is also the chairman of Ron DeSantis, his super PAC who supports his presidential campaign. That same day, the board are handed a $495 an hour legal contract to a new Tallahassee firm co founded by a federal society organizer who has advised DeSantis on judicial appointments.

Kelli 7:18
This can’t possibly be in violation of any type of conflict of interest.

Chris 7:22
We certainly don’t want to have it go before the ethics board. And W F TV reported just last week, that the board of the board recently gave a no bid contract worth up to a million dollars to accompany run by yet another DeSantis employee to the state ethics commission. So nevertheless, things are just going great with the new board. It is a disaster. It is a disaster. Absolutely as I mean, who could have predicted it?

Kelli 7:53
Honestly, I mean, crash and burn, crash and burn agree. Interestingly,

Chris 7:57
yeah, this this person has been to numerous board meetings, the new one and the previous Reedy Creek board and he admits there were issues with the previous Reedy Creek board while Disney probably didn’t have too much power there. But he said it was run like a Swiss watch, they provided more they asked deeper tougher questions that anyone in state like administration of these contracts, sure. So take it for what it is all right on to happier things. Tomorrow, Disney will Magic Kingdom and Epcot will have flyovers from the Air Force’s Thunderbirds. So they are here’s their announcement on this was we are kicking off National Veterans and Military Families month early by hosting a flyover about Magic Kingdom and Epcot by the US Air Force Thunderbirds flight demonstration team on Monday at approximately 10:30am During this time, it may be louder than normal. But we heard that you feel the thrill when you look into the skies Oh,

Kelli 9:00
that’s all sounds really really cool. I’m actually surprised the board didn’t vote to get rid of all military and veteran that come to the park now they’re just completely annihilate them at the gate.

Chris 9:10
I think what they are, they’re actually would love to see you more and more and more flyovers, like commercial air flyovers because they’re trying to get rid of the whole flyover right back in there right. I’m also starting November the seventh the frozen holiday surprise show of the castle will launch. Now this is interesting. They haven’t had the like the you know the lit up like like Frozen castle. You know with the lightning. Yeah, not we haven’t had that because of all the free stuff all the anniversary so will the anniversary stuff has gone which is sad. it well. It is sad, but

Kelli 9:52
I mean, I feel like they kept up that inflatable birthday cake for years. Well, they

Chris 9:57
did. I just felt That way it felt and it wasn’t inflatable. They just painted that thing. No, it was

Kelli 10:04
inflatable negative. We were googling this. Okay,

Chris 10:08
what? Red flag it.

Kelli 10:09
I’m feeling it right now.

Chris 10:11
I think I think the lifesavers and stuff were probably inflatable but the castle was just had

Kelli 10:16
you just keep talking Google Google.

Chris 10:18
Okay. All right then. But in any case, this is gonna be a show in front of the castle. it’ll involve Olaf and all his little Snuggies little siblings, the little tiny ones. That’s cute. And then on, Christoph will play a role. And then Elsa comes out and transforms the castle into a frozen type castle. That will stay that way for the rest of the evening. Because this happens each night starting November the seventh. I haven’t heard that. It’s going back to the old lights though, which I would love if the twinkle twinkle light. Frozen. Yeah. So would love to see that we’ll see if that’s what what they’re talking about. In any case, whatever whatever she turns the castle into, that’s the way it stays for the rest of the night. Okay, um, the International Festival of the Arts returns to Epcot on January the 12th. And it will run through February the 19th. Scott Gustin who we follow on online. He, he says that’s the best festival of the year. I mean, really, it’s like the shortest festival, but it’s a pretty intense little month there. I mean, they do a lot of artsy stuff.

Kelli 11:27
Well, and there’s a lot going on there. Yeah, yeah. Right.

Chris 11:31
I mean, never big figment. Sort of we have we’ve been during the festival the arts before.

Kelli 11:36
I didn’t always say we’ve never been you always say we have figment

Chris 11:40
launches it, and they do the wall with they’ve in the past. Paint the wall. They had that little cake every year. That looks like a little printing on the inside. Yeah. We’ve eaten have we really we have shocking. Yeah. In any case, like so January 12, is like that. So from like, I don’t know, the fourth to the 12th. Or like the one month one week of the year, when there’s like no festivals going

Kelli 12:08
on. Right? And it’s just such a sad place to be. Well,

Chris 12:12
we’ve also been there for that and, and it was very, very sad. It was better than being at home at work. Because we

Kelli 12:18
also participated in the run Disney thing and I disagree with your statement that you just made a disagree with it.

Chris 12:24
You do disagree with it. I still had more fun.

Kelli 12:27
I did not I did not. It was a really really horrific week for a lot of reasons. And when I look back on those photos that were taken by other people, those those doors are at our best to get on my face and I remember what it felt like in the bus that picked me up Sure.

Chris 12:45
Okay. The new DVC tower at Polynesian all the rooms are fully enclosed now they’ve all got their their sliding doors on their balconies and whatnot and they’re getting ready to outfit the inside and put the the theming on the outside. It’s gonna be awesome people are you know, people had

Kelli 13:06
to complain think 10 storeys tall at the poly. Well,

Chris 13:09
there’s pictures all over the place so you don’t have to imagine it you can go see it. People are just complaining or it’s gonna mess up the bottom or blah blah blah evil. Get over yourself. Resort. It’s gonna be awesome. Disney Vacation Club announces special whoop dee holidays dinner show events, or I can’t remember the dates but they’re two Tuesdays one in November one in December that are specific to Disney Vacation Club members and 11 guests that you can bring. They also announced their Disney moonlight magic dates for 2024 I would go through those but you’ve messed up all my time now. Let’s see. Zootopia land opens up in Shanghai on December the 20th. That’s exciting. And the fantasy Springs is going to open up at the Tokyo Disney Sea on June the sixth I wanted to get to this Disney says got to be the best that’s got to be a bucket list item I need to go to this place. So this this new port at DCC because all the lanes are ports. So this new port is fantasy springs and it consists of three areas inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios, frozen kingdom, Rapunzel forest, and Peter Pan’s Neverland as well as Tokyo Disney Sea fantasy Springs Hotel.

Kelli 14:33
I was gonna say those things are not underwater. Neverland I mean, there’s water around Neverland, but Rapunzel as far as the

Chris 14:41
support the fantasy Springs is a port. It’s just a port on the Disney Sea. There’s the eighth port now at Disney see okay. Yeah, so just got to go to this place.

Kelli 14:55
Yeah, now Tokyo Disney say is one for the books. Um, would you like for me to tell you how wrong you are about the castle. I’m googling is finished.

Chris 15:01
Oh, okay. Yes. I don’t think we’ve got gallons of

Kelli 15:05
pink, pink paint and three different shades. Additionally, the castle had inflatable icing lollipops gumballs lifesavers gum drops red candy hearts and green candy stars. The tourists were also overlaid with inflatable birthday candles. It was essentially a jump house for adults is what it looked like. And that’s why everybody hated it. Y’all are all welcome. I liked it.

Chris 15:26
I actually liked I liked it. I

Kelli 15:28
absolutely liked it. But I’m just saying it did not get a lot of love.

Chris 15:32
No, it did not know that’s true. I did not get love, love what it did for me. I just didn’t count for a lot. Okay, we now launch into the Haunted Mansion portion of the program.

Kelli 15:46
We’re here for all the spooky this week. That’s right.

Chris 15:48
That’s right. So you’ve probably all seen this. I want to thank also attractions magazine and Disney dining.com for the information that they helped me put together here the Disney treasure this is the new the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet will launch in December of 2024 start start planning now it’s a wish class ship meaning it’s a sister ship of the Disney wish that just launched last year the Disney which was the largest ship and the biggest Okay so another another another another as big as that one the wish class that’s that’s the wish class the Royal Caribbean is very is whatever it is, but that’s fine. Wish they will also be loose. launching another whisk class ship and 2025

Kelli 16:38
Do we know name?

Chris 16:40
I don’t know the name for that one yet. I’m the treasurer specifically hopes to quote immerse guests in brand new experiences that are inspired by beloved Disney theme parks and attractions. Okay, so I like I like where they’re going. I

Kelli 16:57
love the idea of that. Yeah,

Chris 16:59
I’ve seen like mock ups of the of the, you know, the grand hallway and all on this one. And it’s like, very, very different from the wish which was super princessy right? Yeah.

Kelli 17:10
This is very Cindy.

Chris 17:12
This is very adventury I felt like okay, it is a treasure.

Kelli 17:17
Which by Century. Yeah, absolutely. That’s the word that makes sense.

Chris 17:21
Okay, so, for example, we can step right into the world of the Jungle Cruise at a lounge called the skipper society kit. Very cool. Or we can step into the world of Captain Nemo at a bar based on Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea calls back to the legacy attractions and the novel. Right? Well, I guess can be very stinky. But Halloween is in two days. So let’s talk about what everyone else seems to be talking about as it relates to the Disney treasure. The Haunted Mansion parlor.

Kelli 17:54
The only thing that has ever made me want to go into Disney.

Chris 17:57
I mean you’re you’ve seen to be ready.

Kelli 18:00
I’m really struggling. I’m really struggling with well, it

Chris 18:02
doesn’t launch until 20 December next year, so

Kelli 18:04
you got some got some time to download the program do

Chris 18:06
That’s right. Download the programs. Do

Kelli 18:08
you think just having adults only it’s not.

Chris 18:12
Unfortunately, Disney Parks blog described it this way. The design of the Haunted Mansion parlor will resemble a first class drawing room of a classic cruise liner from the Golden Age invoking inspiration from the original haunted mansion with a nautical twist. Complete with nostalgic tributes to haunted mansion attractions around the world fans will recognize the iconic wallpaper, the distinctive purple armchair tucked in the corner. Guests will also encounter a few legendary characters from the original Disney Parks attraction as well as some new seafaring arrivals in a portrait gallery depicting Disney treasures own ghostly residents. So, in this in this parlor, we get to take part in a 30 minute completely immersive haunted mansion experience. I’m guessing sort of the root of this harkens back to like the trader Sam’s things where the whole the whole place comes alive in different ways the whole thing is a difference you

Kelli 19:13
have to leave after 30 minutes

Chris 19:15
I don’t know I don’t know if you have to leave after 30 minutes but I think you know there’s probably going to be a line at this thing i By the way, I just want to know I sort of love Disney’s turn towards immersive experiences. Yes, absolutely. The whole the whole star cruiser thing. Galaxies edge is immersive right the cast members are not cast members they they live at bat to even Kip Skipper canteen is effectively an immersive dining experience. Yeah, absolutely. So I love this keep keep going this way.

Kelli 19:49
So I love it. Fantastic.

Chris 19:50
So we start this experience by effectively walking partially down like the corridor of doors When you’re imagine being on the Haunted Mansion ride, and you’re going I think backwards through the corridor of doors, they’re like some of them are bulging and we ended up going through one of those doors, right? Welcome, foolish mortals. As you go through the doors, you got

Kelli 20:15
to wonder if you could go through different doors like this is the experience if you go to this store this the experience oh my gosh, I would just stay in this lounge the entire time.

Chris 20:29
When we enter in though, we have entered a funeral in progress for a former sea captain. Oh, wow. Yes, a jovial ship captain who joined the happy haunts in the other realm. After a quote, disastrous dinner with his beloved fiance. Oh, gosh, the hearts the happy hearts are trying to join in on the funeral. But first we had to go through a seance led by Madame liotta to let them in.

Kelli 21:01
Oh my gosh, I know. I love it so much. Okay.

Chris 21:05
Okay. After that it becomes a swinging wake. All the happy heart start to join in all the parlor special effects come to life when you enjoy your very own spirits. Oh,

Kelli 21:19
gosh.

Chris 21:23
New features that harken back to the classic rides are almost too many to count. But they include the 13 hour clock on the mantel. So Corkins back to the grandfather clock in the in the attractions. The fireplace is haunted itself. Okay, the face chair that everyone will remember from the attraction is tucked away in the corner, you know, a chair talking about the face. So it’s like a purplish, pinkish chair. It’s got stripes on it’s in the movie. It’s yeah, see a picture of it. You know it immediately. Okay. But I’ve seen this referred to as the Donald Duck chair a lot a lot.

Kelli 21:57
I have to I get it. Is that the face the

Chris 22:01
fact? Well, if you it looks like Donald Duck in a if you look at it a certain way. It’s you can’t unsee Donald Duck anymore. Okay, so okay. Yeah, it’s like Donald Duck has got his head tilted down, but a sailor, but you can see a sailor hat and then sort of like you’re looking at the top of his bill. Okay.

Kelli 22:18
All right. Interesting. I wouldn’t

Chris 22:20
have fired ever but now that I’ve seen it in haunted mansion. Yeah. Now that I’ve seen it. I can’t unsee it. Okay. Okay. They mentioned the purple wallpaper with the eyes that follow you around the room. You know, hitchhiking ghosts. They show up I think in the mirror behind the bar, which is really really cool. Wow. paintings that shift and change like the Catherine’s painting, every time lightning strikes because even if it’s beautiful outside, in the Haunted Mansion parlor, it’s constantly storming and lightning and all that fun stuff. So as lightning flashes, the paintings change. Okay, right. Just looks like we’re experiencing the Yeah,

Kelli 22:56
yes, perfect.

Chris 22:58
There are small details that harken back to the haunted manor in Paris. So it was called haunted Manor.

Kelli 23:08
I don’t think so. Something matters something Manor.

Chris 23:12
As well as the three classic haunted mansion rides in Disneyland Walt Disney World and Tokyo. Supposedly, if you pay enough attention to the details, you can figure out what happened to the captain whose funeral and wake we’re now attending. I saw some of the mugs and drinking vessels super nautical. They are very, very much like Krakens and such, which very excited to have sure by a whole set of today’s Imagineers also dug into sketches and notes from Claude Coates and Mark Davis, the original Imagineers that worked on the haunted mansion to incorporate some of the illusions that didn’t make it into the original attractions. Okay. Spirits and mocktails have been created specifically for this parlor, sympathetic libation. mocktails. For example, and a mocktail called the ghoulish delight, which is purple and comes with a floating eyeball, I’ll have it. There’s also there’s also this black drink that Disney describes this way. This is a ghostly twist on a classic Margarita presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke.

Kelli 24:21
I saw a picture that went oh my gosh. It

Chris 24:24
will be a signature drink at the Haunted Mansion parlor. It’s topped with lemon salt foam. This tequila base cocktail will contain a secret message only to be revealed by black light. Okay,

Kelli 24:35
so you need to get it because it’s got to Killarney oh well. You need to get it so that we can see the secret message by black light. Exactly.

Chris 24:44
I think the secret message about black lives is gonna say the Haunted Mansion parlor on it okay, but whatever. Okay, but I need to do it. Yeah. So yeah, like I said, this is this is completely immersive experience. It is It is. It’s gonna make us go on a Disney cruise. That’s how cool this thing is gonna be.

Kelli 25:06
I do need more information on whether or not I have to leave after 30 minutes. And if it requires reservations, like, can I spend the first half of the day in the captain’s themed area? The other lounge you mentioned Skipper, the skipper area for society? Yeah, yeah. And then spend the second half of the day in the Haunted Mansion area. Are they going to kick me out? It really is to have your face. It’s it is it truly is an I would like to be immersed and not have to leave like I don’t want the ride to be over.

Chris 25:41
You could just join the happy home.

Kelli 25:43
Don’t tempt me. Don’t tempt me.

Chris 25:51
So the Haunted Mansion parlor is going to be the thing that that I know. It’s

Kelli 25:59
really really is y’all and I’m struggling already. It’s a tough decision already. It’s not. Okay, so I’m going to talk about the Haunted Mansion movie, this current 120 23. Now, before it came out this summer, I gave sort of a preview. Okay, now it’s been out. It’s in the theaters. It’s on Disney plus. So at this point, I just need to go ahead and tell you there are spoilers, spoilers here. And if you haven’t watched it, then shame on you. Right. So just pause this, go watch it and then come back. Can you hear my spoilers because these are some really cool things that I’m going to tell you but I’m not going to worry about whether or not you’ve seen it. In fact, I’m going to assume that you’ve seen it as I speak about so stop the recording now and go watch the thing, right, so I’m going to speak as though you’ve seen it, right. Okay, so first of all, as a reminder, Haunted Mansion movie stars. Look, Keith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish Danny DeVito Jamie, Jamie Lee Curtis and chase Dylan Chase. Dylan is Travis, the son of Rosario Dawson. So this is an ensemble cast that you love you love a good ensemble cast. And I’m telling you I love I love this cast. Yes, it is beautifully diverse. The script is wonderfully written and these are just some of my newly favorite people. So here’s the basic plot. A single mom named Gabby and her son Travis moved from up north down to Louisiana to start fresh in quotes. Gabby is a doctor and she wants to convert the mansion that they’ve purchased into a bed and breakfast. Once they move in, they realize the house is haunted, but they can’t leave the house forces them not to leave. She ends up hiring a tour guide a psychic a priest and a historian to help exercise her newly bought mansion after discovering that it is inhabited by ghosts. The kicker here is that there are 999 Happy haunts in the house. And they need one more. Okay, so here are by the way, pay no attention to the reviews online because they’re crap. You know, anybody out there bashing this movie is not a fan of the ride and they’re not a fan of Disney. Right? So leave that crap at the door. Don’t mess with it. This is a good movie. Okay, so here are some decent reviews that I heard one is extremely playful while maintaining the overall spooky vibe. It is a no brainer goofy ghost story. A Haunted Mansion fans dream come true. And that’s me. It is my dream. True. Yes. If you’re a fan of the ride, you will love this movie. And if you’re not, then you don’t want to watch this movie with us. Okay, because I’m going to quote it and I’m going to laugh out loud and I’m going to whisper things and it’s going to ruin your whole experience. Okay, so just don’t come over.

Chris 28:49
I have a really great friend, huge Disney person who described it to me as a love letter to the right. It absolutely isn’t. That’s perfect.

Kelli 28:59
That’s perfect. Yes. So I’m going to tell you the 10 reasons this is the perfect haunted mansion movie. Now I’ve seen all the Haunted Mansion movies that have come out including the Muppets when I think they’re all great in their own right just because I love the ride so much. Okay, but there are 10 reasons this is the perfect haunted mansion movie. Okay, number 10. I’m counting up number 10 The Doom Buggies I cannot stop laughing at the Doom Buggies when the ghosts are shoving them out of the house.

Chris 29:26
It’s fantastic. Backwards and downstairs. Oh

Kelli 29:28
my gosh. And then they end up in the hospital and they’re like, how did he end up in the middle of a road and a chair. It’s so so good. I love the day. Rocky’s number nine. Constance hatchway OMG she’s creepy. It’s creepy. She is creep tastic and she’s in the attic, which is where she’s supposed to be in

Chris 29:49
all of her all of her and all of her kappa days. Oh

Kelli 29:52
my goodness. She is so creepy. That attic scene is so Okay, Number seven, eight. Sorry, you know what it just will not order about that. I’m just the next one. Sure. The sea captain’s ghost. Okay, the way he haunts been by like flooding his house I think looks like a lot of fun and could potentially like lead to a new ride in a water section. But then he also ends up helping them fix the problem as long as they take him to the sea. I just totally can relate to that. Like, I will do whatever you want to carry me to the ocean. Right? Like, I just think that’s I feel the sea captain like in my soul. That’s right. Yeah. The next one, the stretching room scene is scary. Scary, like I hold my breath through that whole scene. It’s freaks you out. And I will never see the stretching room the same again, like it is. It’s perfection. It is a perfect rendering of that part of the ride in the movie, and it makes it really scary. Sure.

Chris 31:04
And I think you didn’t even recognize the first time we watched it. The things that were climbing up the walls to get away from were the things that did not killed the DPI.

Kelli 31:13
The portrait man tastic y’all, that scene is so so good. Now here, I just wanna tell you, we’re only on the fourth one. And I loved them. All. Right, so you can imagine how this is building. Okay, the next one. To fix the situation. They have to travel from haunted mansion in New Orleans, which is the one from Disney Land to Crump Manor, which is the one from Walt Disney Worlds is so good. Crump Manor is such a weird and funny scene. This is where Winona Ryder is. And I love that they have intentionally used both mansions. And as you approach both mansions in the movie, it’s the same way you would approach them as you’re getting on the ride. That was so intentional, because director is a massive fan of the ride. And he was like that had to have found a note by the way about the Winona Ryder thing. Don’t tell me yet only if we have time in the end. First of all, I love Winona Ryder’s character. I think she’s fantastic. I’m still so confused by her. I love her

Chris 32:15
whole the whole comment about the game.

Kelli 32:17
No, no. No. Love her deeply. Okay, next one. The seance room. This is so cool. It is like the darkness inside of me once that room in our house so bad. It really really does. They do a fantastic job of balancing creepy and funny in there. Oh yeah. Like in a way you can’t even imagine. And I’m just I just want to be there in this creepy, funny room. It just with these people. I just want those people sitting around the seance table. I just feel so much warmth in that environment. That’s what I want. That’s all I want. Okay, next, the ensemble cast. They’re each brilliant in their own way. And together their absolute magic.

Chris 33:08
I feel like so many of the moments were were not perfectly scripted. They just Danny

Kelli 33:14
DeVito. If you watch any movie, any of the videos and stuff, they’re all like Danny DeVito is hilarious, and he would just go off. But they would also all go off because they loved how Justin the director would laugh. And he does have the most amazing laugh like Google that is so amazing. And so Rosario Dawson. No, no, it wasn’t it was Tiffany. And she was like, I would just try to make him laugh every day because I loved hearing his laugh. Amazing. Okay, so here are the last three. Number three, the ballroom sequence. It is my favorite in the ride. Of course, like I always lean forward to see through the railing and they fit that into the movie. Perfectly. absolutely perfectly. I loved every second of that scene. Here is a bit that you’re gonna love. Okay, the organist in the movie who plays ghostly notes is also lifted directly from the ballroom scene in the right place the exact same organist interesting trivia. The organist in Disneyland is playing a real movie prop it’s the same Oregon as the one in the 1954 film 20,000 leagues under the sea.

Chris 34:22
Oh my gosh, I think I knew that but then for God that is awesome. You love that kind of stuff. I’m gonna watch 20,000 leagues tonight love that

Kelli 34:29
kind of stuff. Okay, so that’s awesome. And by the way, fun fact again, if you play dreamlike Valley you can get that organ in the organist playing it in the the little special Halloween thing so go do that because it’s great. I put him in the Forgotten lands by the way which I think the place place a place for him to go but you do your you do you do you Okay. Number Number two, the dialogue. Okay, my my I’ve got three little sections here. So first is between Travis and Gabby so mom and son Travis says this place is haunted. And mom says, I know this place it is as warm as we hoped. But I’m gonna light a vanilla candle and it’s going to be a game changer. And Travis says,

Chris 35:10
Will it though?

Kelli 35:14
So good. I love it so much. And the next few quotes are from Harriet because she’s definitely my favorite. She’s my favorite character, Harriet. Now, if I can communicate with William Gracie, I suspect he will have the answers that we need. And just to confirm the only thing available to us for this seance is this French Vanilla Yankee Candle. Gabby says yeah, I keep to forget to cancel I keep forgetting to cancel my Amazon subscription. So okay, third what also Harriet, why are you here? Why are you hanging on? If you have a message that you would like to leave us or a greeting of sorts? Here is a pen and pad that I purchased from CVS like this. Okay, number one number one Leotta I love her. And Jamie Lee Curtis does a phenomenal job. She’s fantastic. But her relationship with Harriet is what sends that over the edge for me. Like she empowers and encourages Harriet and they are awesome together. So, liotta teaches Harriet the banishment incantation, which I’m going to recite for you all now. Okay, here’s how you would banish haunts that are hanging on in your house that need to go. When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echoed through the halls. Whenever candle lights flicker where the air is deathly still. That is the time when ghosts are present. practicing their terror with ghoulish delight.

Chris 36:53
Love It’s alive. It’s so good. Oh, I

Kelli 36:56
love it so much. Oh, watch it. Watch it. Watch it.

Chris 36:59
I mean, watch it. Now if you’ve never ridden the rides, and you’ll enjoy the ride more.

Kelli 37:03
Do you have time to tell us about the one owner I do.

Chris 37:07
Alright, so we have just been dying, wondering why Winona Ryder is uncredited in this movie. Eugene Levy does not Eugene, his son, Dan Levy. He’s in it for less time.

Kelli 37:19
Even Winona Ryder is he’s got a pre show credit. Right, right. Yeah, she’s not credited anywhere. She’s Pat. And it says uncredited on IMDb is

Chris 37:30
so good in this though. So Simeon discussed writers brief appearance late in the film as a tour guide.

Kelli 37:38
Pat, that

Chris 37:40
in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He says we kidnapped her. We told her that she was shooting Beetlejuice too. And she just went for it too. She caught on. That was a joke. No, he that he said that. But he was just joking. No, she was just someone we wanted from the outset. Carmen Cuba, the casting director, myself and the studio were really enamored with this idea of plugging in classic faces in these cameo roles. And it just felt so right that she’d be the tour guide at the end of the movie. She was just so delightfully weird and funny in her performance, and it was super magical. super magical time having her on the project. She

Kelli 38:16
was delightfully weird. And she was

Chris 38:18
she was that. I want to know what the cane is about so bad. No, no. She says something. It’s it’s my own personal use

Kelli 38:28
for my own personal use.

Chris 38:29
So

Kelli 38:30
here’s his chair. No, no. No. Is that his cane? No.

Chris 38:40
Yeah, go watch it. And also lighten up if you don’t like

Kelli 38:43
this come on. It’s a great movies.
